Named for Shakespeare's birthplace, Stratford has grown to become Canada’s premier arts town. In addition to the annual Stratford Festival, performing from April through October, Stratford is always filled with theater, music and visual arts. The preserved 19th-century architecture and acres of parks and gardens (along its own Avon River, no less) are certain to charm. Stratford has also gained a reputation for culinary creativity, showcased at some of the finest restaurants in the country.

Good choice at Majer's Motel

Family owned business, well maintained and managed, very clean, reasonable price. I am happy to choose this motel to spend a comfortable night. But please note that some guests are smoking in the room so you need to choose the room if it matters to you

Suburban Motel

If you prefer trees and scenic farmland over asphalt, then you will enjoy your Suburban visit. Our grounds are covered with beautiful mature trees and shrubs, with a generous amount of color being supplied by a variety of flowerbeds, headlined by our gorgeous roses. Corn and wheat fields surround us and enhance the beautiful canvas which is our property. Quiet country roads beckon those who wish to walk or cycle through "the back forty". You can also stay active during your stay by shooting hoops, playing tennis, or having a refreshing swim in our outdoor heated pool.

Home Away From Home

We discovered this motel a number of years ago and have returned almost every year since then. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the grounds are beautifully landscaped with a pool for those hot days. The motel is just outside the town, in the middle of farm fields, and morning walks along country roads are the perfect way to start the day. The owners, Mandy and Mike, are extremely helpful and welcoming.

Loved it! Clean, quiet, amazing pool and a lovely perennial garden.

I would run away to The Swan for a staycation. Or a retro romantic weekend. Or just to enjoy their fantastic pool and garden. The rooms are retro seventies decor, but with very comfortable beds, flat screen tv, a little fridge, and super internet. Everything is clean and in good repair. The They are following Covid protocols. The price is fair. And the owners are lovely. Highly recommended.

Good bed but that's all

Such a strange place. There is almost no one ever at the front desk and since the rooms don't have phones, if you need help, you have to have your own phone to call someone who is not on the property. The queen bed I had was comfy with great sheets but the room had no coffee machine. There weren't even any glasses. I asked who was living there on a more permanent basis and was told they were snowbirds who had not gone to Florida this year. They were clearly not. The room was clean and had some character left but there were signs of a too hasty reno - the shower floor tiles weren't all grouted, for instance. I didn't find the room too small at all. It was too expensive for what I got, for the middle of winter.

I stayed one night, travelling solo. The owners were helpful and friendly. The room was comfortable and clean. Very quiet area of Stratford. It’s a 20 minute walk to the theatre which I felt comfortable doing both to and from the theatre. The negative reviews had me nervous. No need.
