Having been fortunate enough to visit many safari lodges throughout Africa I have to say that Potato Bush is absolutely one of my best. Potato Bush offers everything a first timer or frequent safari traveler could wish for. It is a small camp so you get all the personal attention you may wish for. The rooms are outstanding. Very spacious with your own veranda, plunge pool, hammock and stunning river views. Beds are luxurious with crisp linen. Bath, twin showers with piping hot water. The food was excellent and they are flexible to your dietary requirements. The game drive guide George was a fountain of knowledge. Having lived and worked in the Lower Zambezi his whole life he was extremely knowledgeable. Fishing in that part of the river never disappoints, great size tiger fish to be caught. Charles and his team are excellent and sure know how to make your safari experience a one in a million. All in all Potato Bush must be right up there on your wish list for your next visit to the Lower Zambezi.

A Royal Dream Come True

Our trip to the Royal Zambezi was by far the most fantastic experience of our lives. To start with, our room (the Royal suite) was impeccable: beautifully clean, tastefully decorated, and superb attention to detail including a cold water flask by the bed, luxurious toiletries, turn down service and even our own reusable bottle to take home as a souvenir. We felt that everything was thought of and our needs or desires were catered for at every level - thank you so much to Sam the lovely staff member who did such a fantastic job at this! He surprised us with preparing a luxurious, romantic bubble bath for myself and my partner in our outdoor bathtub on our final night, which was the cherry on top of this perfect holiday. Our activities were outstanding, and this is all thanks to our wonderful guides Mainza, Forbs and Joe. We absolutely loved our ‘Ferrari Safari’ with Mainza who would ensure we quickly got to certain spots to catch a glimpse of some exciting animals. On our first afternoon, we watched the largest pack of wild dogs in Africa for hours. On our second day, we saw 4 lion, and our third day we saw two leopards. Other animals included many elephants, hippo, Buffalo, kudu, crocodiles, impala, a genet and a civet. Mainza and Forbs were hugely informed and knowledgeable about the wildlife which ensured that we learned a lot and felt very safe, what a life changing experience!! We also went canoeing with Joe, who made me feel very secure and safe as I had felt a bit nervous beforehand. We had a beautiful, tranquil experience on the river and I will never forget that activity. We spent a morning fishing with Forbs who helped us catch 4 large tiger fish - thank you Forbs for the most awesome fishing trip! He was excellent at directing us and also teaching us about the river. The food and beverage service at Royal was second-to-none. Each meal was unique and delicious, beautifully presented and served with smiles and professionalism. I was hugely grateful that the staff catered to my food intolerances and made an effort to accommodate for me at all times. On our final evening at dinner, some staff members performed some beautiful singing and dance for us. This felt authentic as the guys were all happy and smiling, showing how much they love their job and their Zambian culture, which was a definite highlight for me on this trip. Final thanks to Natalie, Mwaka and Richard for their superb hosting and running such a flawless operation. We could not fault a single part of our entire trip and we will be returning as often as we can manage. This was a dream come true for us. All our love from Scotland - Beth and Hamish xx.

You arrive by boat, over the Zambezi river at this gem by the river. We had 4 amazing days at this lodge. The 'rooms' are XL-suite size, with a small private pool. The staff is extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgeable on flora and fauna. Nothing is too much to ask and every day we were treated with a wonderful surprise that made our stay even more memorable. We think back on every staff member and every minute of our stay with joy and gratefulness. It was with pain we had to leave, however it was more than the perfect ending to a wonderful holiday in Zambia. Thank you!

Anabezi offers an amazing experience, the camp is very well done - superbly comfortable, private, discrete and well managed. The food was excellent, thanks to Lloyd and his kitchen magicians. Ivan, Stafford and Isaac provided excellent service. Mpunga and Dennis are a death if fresh air, but the most extraordinary team are Lawrence and Nathan who worked tirelessly to ensure we saw everything we wanted to see and shared their deep knowledge of the bush and bush lore so generously. Amazing team - thank you!!!
