Reviewed By 23alwaysawayWhat can we say, after an awful experience with a villa upon arrival , three of us we taken in by the lovely staff at last minute. Let down further by our villa company, the hotel went out of their way to accommodate us for the rest of our holiday. The hotel is beautiful and relaxing. Spotless . We are here for a wedding and worried about where we would end up. Alexandra , Chris and Christina have been amazing and cannot do enough for you. So thank you. All the staff are friendly and smiling and finally we feel we can relax.

The good and the bad
Reviewed By daveingram44First the good hotel in a lovely location however the Airport is very close we knew this before we booked but if you don't like aircraft noise perhaps avoid although flights during our stay were few and far between probably alot busier July and August. Hotel itself is beautiful spacious rooms and lovely walk in shower staff are all friendly found drinks to be very expensive in the hotel 3 euros for a can of coke is very steep(tip 1 euro 10 cents in the supermarket next door) there is no kind of entertainment in the evening although there is a pool table and a football game. The swimming pool is lovely to cool of in a bit on the cold side though until you get use to it the pool is kept in a very clean condition as is the hotel itself the maids work hard every day cleaning the room and keeping the hotel spotless unfortunately the bad news the food even though edible is never hot luke warm at best and when serving chicken,pork,and beef is very dangerous quite a few guests raised this issue with management but unfortunately seemed to fall on deaf ears such a shame as it let's the hotel down we booked on half board basis but ate out most evenings as we had concerns of food poisining due to the food not been piping hot. Will certainly be back to Kefalonia but unfortunately not to the Astra village.

Sotiris is a small , family run ,3 star hotel in the village of Svoronata. The village is 9 kilometers from the island capital Argostoli with easy transport by taxi or local buses .The hotel offers a unique and relaxing holiday with the beaches of Ammes and Ai helis nearby . Hotel facilities including swimming pool , restaurant ,pool bar and free wifi.
Fabalous place with good food and wine
Reviewed By lurkioWe arrived late but the bar was still open and Peter provided drinks. On the 1st day we upgraded to half board for 10 euros a day. The food was great. Sardines to start is worth 7 Euros and the Swordfish, Mousakka, Lamb chops etc were brilliant value compared to eating out. The chef does wonders in that small kitchen from 7 to 10pm. The three pools were open but only the main pool bar. The lack of public transport meant a hire car for getting around and Greekstones were excellent value with an i10 for 150E for 6 days. They are 300m from Sotris and allow airport drop offs next to the Ikaris Taverna for your return. Room 8 in the self catering apartments had the best views. The suopermarket Katerina has everything but is about 5E a bottle of wine and Vodka about 22E. Ouzo was about 8E but if you can get to Lidls or AB's on the roundabout outside Argostoli then you are quids in. We extended our stay with 4 nights in Argostoli but returned to say goodbye to the fabalous staff at Sotris, especially Peter,

Modest, clean apartment
Reviewed By nicole_hnc98I stayed at Barbara Studios for 4 nights and it served its job. The owners are incredibly friendly and helpful with any questions you have. The rooms are very clean however the block by the pool is very outdated. Tv is an old box tv and has one English news channel rest are in Greek I assume - although not a huge issue as you don’t go on holiday to watch tv. It can be slightly noisy at night due to planes flying past thought this is as expected as the hotel is 10 mins from airport. If you stay in number 13 bear in mind it has no private balcony. I also found it slightly hard to maintain the temperature of the water when having a shower, whenever I tried turning the hot water on it would turn cold and then hot again after a while. I found the beds and pillows very uncomfortable and hard and woke up with sore neck and shoulders most days, not sure if it might be the norm for certain European countries though as they may prefer their beds to be more firm? No microwave only hob and kitchenware will have to buy own tissues, cooking oil, washing up liquid, salt pepper. You also will have to ask for a toaster or iron as it’s not provided in the room. Since this was my first time visiting Greece I found out that you can’t flush paper down toilet and must throw them in the bins instead. The maids come about once or twice a week. The shop next door was closed during my stay there so nearest one is about 15min walk. Good few restaurants within 20 mins walking distance, I recommend Esperides need to try their orange cake - delicious! 2 beaches nearby - Ai Helis beach and Ammes beach. I recommend Ammes, about 5 mins longer to walk but definitely worth it. The sand is much nicer and has bigger beach bar, it was €4 to get a bed and umbrella for myself as I was travelling solo whereas in Ai Helis it was €5 and the path to get there is quite dangerous - very steep path and no handrails. Bus stop right outside hotel that comes every hour or so to argostoli harbour and is pretty reliable. Make sure to sit on the left side of bus when going towards argostoli to get best views. I had a boat trip one morning and the night before I asked Erato to pre book a taxi to get me to the harbour for 9am the following morning as the first bus doesn’t come until 9:15am, it arrived at 8:30am and was €17 very reasonable. If you rent a car you have to be a good driver as the roads are very narrow and winding you have to give way to everyone. Overall, Baraba studios is lovely for a quiet stay. I couldn’t give it more than 3 stars for the hotel itself but i give an extra star for the owners hospitality and friendliness. I would recommend to stay somewhere like Lassi for more shops and things to do as Svoronata is quite rural.

Basic but lovely
Reviewed By dianeaJ9885LNOur 2nd stay at Helena's and once again thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Typically Greek basic self catering, but comfortable, clean and very friendly . We are in the older block and it's absolutely fine. Not sure who gets the newer block lol. Sat on the balcony as I write before packing to go home sadly. Can't comment on the pool and bar as we prefer the beach and the peaceful balcony to relax, it looks very pleasant though. Special mention to Helena and husband, so friendly and helpful and the cleaner and handyman who do a fantastic job. The area is very peaceful and if you're used to 'Greece' you'll enjoy I'm sure. If you want ultra modern and lots to do go elsewhere.

Reviewed By globespunI don't even know where to begin I called and spoke with me on her when I never received emails back I got an answer that I was looking for regarding the amenities. However what I did not know is that it was going to be closed when I was there although they took the money they neglected and telling us they were closed for the season!! The pool was drained and locks on the gate it would have been nice to have been contacted that they were not going to be accommodating us and it also would be nice if we would have gotten the money that was sent!!! Run away fast!!!!

Reviewed By AdrianCraciunWell.... I stayed at Pythos 3 nights.. and I was very disappointed with what I found there. I found the apartment by searching on google and I found their website. I was delighted by what I saw on the site ... but the reality is completely different than the beautiful images there. The beautiful pool in the photo is actually a mud pit on the bottom and which, from what I understand reading reviews from 2016 until now, has never worked. The pool bar he writes about on the website does not exist. Of the three buildings they own, only the ground floor of the house where the owners live also functions as accommodation. The rooms are equipped with old furniture and you must have engineering studies to be able to open the door of the room so as not to make a terrible noise. The bathroom is very dirty and difficult to use. The breakfast they write about on their website doesn't even exist. As for air conditioning, it exists, but they ask for an addition tax if you want to use it. The 800 meters to the beach are actually 1200 meters, according to Google Maps. So if you don't have a car to go with once you get there, you wake up in the middle of nowhere. There are no restaurants near the property, no shops, in fact there is nothing. The only real thing from what is presented on the website is that they have parking space for cars, free of charge.
