A small jewel in a peaceful valley
Reviewed By Bob HI detected this valley and Hotel - Gasthof zur Post last year, when I was looking for a quiet place for celebrating my mother's birthday. Selection criteria were a peaceful location in the Bavarian Alp region, midsize hotel with restaurant and elevator, good ratings from previous guests. The Hotel zur Post offered all of this and I booked it. The overall performance of the hotel and it's team were beyond my expectation, hence I took my wife a few months later to the hotel for a short holiday. Last week we celebrated again the birthday of my mother at Hotel Post. During all three visits the Hotel´never failed in anything. The owner, Mrs. Schmidhammer and her team know how to make guests feel at home, food and service in the cosy Bavarian style restaurant are of good standards; the guest rooms are spacious and of typical Bavarian design. Overall, the hotel offers good value for money.

Reviewed By DeWolf77We just passed by for one night on the way to ski holidays. We had however a fairly good impression and liked this place. First of all we were welcomed in a very friendly way. Next there’s a family authentic atmosphere. The rooms were clean and the decoration in especially the common areas is really great. Two smaller points though: there is no restaurant in the hotel, closest is 1,8km away. Perfectly doable on foot, but also in the village there is not really much choice (I’d recommend reservations). The hotel however offers an alternative: meals in individual fridges to heat up. Good for some, but maybe not for everyone. Next, the rooms and bathrooms we were in were fairly small and I’m not sure if I would spend 14 days of holiday here. But then again, the spacious and totally nice common areas might make up for that. In any case, we will definitely check further what the surroundings have to offer and seriously consider spending summer holidays here.

Our Bed & Breakfast is located in the beautiful "Achental" and has a little wellnessarea outside with sauna and whirlpool (both free of charge). On the ground floor there are community rooms with a little library, a fireplace, a room with boardgames, cards and game console, as well as a room with TV to enjoy sports events. With the Geigelsteinbahn (a chairlift in 3 min. away) you can also go up to our WuhrsteinAlm, 1120m on the way to the highest summit in the "Chiemgau", the Geigelstein. Starting from the Alm you can hike beautiful pathes or just sit on the beautiful terrace and enjoy the view. You have the mountains and the chiemsee near by and therefore you have a variety of different sports activities that you can do. But there are also many possibilites to enjoy a day of wellness or have alternatives in case of bad weather. During wintertime the next ski areas or toboggan runs are only a short drive away. The trail for cross-country skiing is adjacent to the WuhrsteinHaus.
Friendly place with a beautiful view
Reviewed By GeisterpoltSpent 5 nights here with my wife and kids. The staff are friendly, no noise at night and a lot of mountain related experiences within easy driving distance (typically 30-45 minutes drive). Can only recommend.

Reviewed By juliane28dd2018Ich war jetzt schon zweimal hier zu Gast. 1x zu einer Familie Feier und 1x zu einem Workshop. Beides mal hat das kleine Team hier auf dem Berg alles top organisiert und einen tollen und freundlichen Service geleistet. Das Essen zu beiden Besuchen rundherum lecker... Das i-Tüpfelchen war die für das Geburtstagskind gebackene Torte und... die hausgemachte Marmelade zum Frühstück. Die Zimmer sind zwar nicht riesig, aber hübsch eingerichtet und wie das ganze Haus sehr sauber und gepflegt.

Reviewed By SebastianT1987NEIch komme seit meiner Kindheit hierher. Sehr schöne Ferienwohnungen. Super Ausgangspunkt für Wanderungen und im Winter auch zum Langlauf/Ski fahren. Die Gastgeber sind bei Fragen etc. immer als Ansprechpartner direkt vor Ort und sehr freundlich. Fühle mich dort wie zuhause.
