My fiancé and I visited the lodge 15-18 December 2021 (Namibian Citizens). Our highlights and compliments: ◆ The lodge is truly beautiful to the eye: it's green as far as the eye can see, very well taken care of, one can see lots of thought has gone into every aspect of the lodge. ◆ Friendliest staff we have ever come into contact with during our trip in Northern Namibia. The manager Fabian, waitress Meddy and worker Paulus made our visit extra special with all the effort they went through for us. ◆ Hands down the BEST food we had during our trip as well. The chef is incredibly knowledgable and talented. Went to bed every night completely satisfied. I highly recommend paying the extra fees for dinner. Breakfast was also spectacular. ◆ We went on a sundowner boat cruise where Paulus steered the boat. It was a great experience and truly beautiful, the complementary drinks and snacks were the icing on the cake. ◆ The rooms are incredible. They are spacious, clean and comfortable. The beds were top of the range and the shower is gigantic. Each room has its own little deck outside with chairs (the staff provides you with fresh coffee on your doorstep each morning!). The rooms also had their own kettle with tea and coffee options, no fridge though. A few things to note: ◆ The lodge is NOT accessible by a sedan car during the rainy season. We were told it's possible, but with the puddles and clay sand it was a real struggle. ◆ There is not much wildlife at this lodge. If you want to visit to see hippos and crocodiles or to do fishing, I do not recommend as we were not successful in these aspects (however, please note while we were here the water levels were starting to rise. The river was quite shallow a few days before we arrived, it might be different if the water levels are higher). ◆ Since we're in the bush, insects is inevitable. Be sure to take your own insect killer spray as well as mosquito spray. We had a family of spiders breed out in the room which kept us up one night, but room service attended to this problem the next morning. We truly enjoyed our stay, definitely the perfect place to come to relax. Also a good transit lodge at the Caprivi entrance. Highly recommend.

Tambuti Lodge has 8 clean whitewashed en-suite chalets perched above the Okavango River 50m from the floodplain and a traditional African restaurant. Never flooded and easy access, conveniently located on a small road leading down to the river from the center of Rundu town. The ideal stop before heading to the deeper Kavango and Caprivi.
We only stayed one night but the staff were lovely, the room was very spacious and clean, I really appreciated the bath! The food in the restaurant was very good and service was very good too. The staff were very pleasant and efficient.

Spent a night on my way up to Katima Mulilo. We took a chance and arrived without a booking, which was fine but I got the feeling this wasn't usual! So make a booking. I stayed in a chalet, which was quite convenient not to have to unpack a tent. Lovely little seating area - lots of birds and dikdiks. Breakfast was included and was delicious. I can imagine the vibe could be quite a party vibe if there were big crowds, but we had a quiet time. Well run, well kept. Would stay again.

We arrived on New Year’s Eve. No efforts were made in making it special. The food was cold and there was no atmosphere or ambience. No music at all during dinner. Each couple were given a small bottles of sparkling wine to share and plastic champagne glasses.

We stayed in the cool July of 2018 with a fairly late arrival. After an excellent welcome from Ansie and Hannes, we had a drink and took an evening boat ride along the Kavango over to Angola side to find a lot of friendly locals using the river to live. We headed back to find a crocodile on the Namibian bank. We landed at camp to use the excellent facilities to cook up a feast of food we bought in an great supermarket in Rendu (60 kms west). The hosts were great with wonderful advice. All facilities available with hot water etc. Easy to find even if off the main road. Easy access. Very pleasant for myself, my wife and my two boys (12 and 8). Cabin was clean and charming.

Great location right on the river, well maintained property. Shade from well established trees and swimming pool on super hot days are a huge plus. Spacious campsites set far apart for privacy, private ablution and kitchenette were clean, fitted with everything you need. Activities: Fishing trip with Mark (owner) on the river, actually caught a tiger fish!!! Charlie and Mark are gracious, warm, welcoming and have attention to detail on all the little things to make you feel at home after long hours on the road. We travelled from South to North Namibia, this was our favourite stay, highly reccomend.

If you want to stay overnight in Rundu for a favourable price and you prefer the Kavango riverside to the noisy city, this camp is a good option, 10 km from the city. To reach it, drive to the Rundu Border Post (google maps will guide you there) and then follow the signs.

The thatched-roofed Kayova River Lodge is situated directly on the Okavango River in the middle, between Rundu and Divindu and is amongst the more comfortable Lodges in Northern Namibia. It is affectionately called "shiwangundu" - the "Pearl" of the Okavango by the local people. Our building, and the surrounding, richly flowering park are an oasis for relaxing in and for experiencing Africa. The lodge and surrounding area offer many different activities: - The abundant bird life make this area a bird-lover's paradise- Extensive game viewing can be done at the various national parks, which are situated in close proximity to the lodge.- Water activities such as fishing, boating and hippo viewing are available a stones throw from the lodge itself.- Hiking and horse riding are also popular activities in the area
The tents in Kayova are lovely. Was there with work again this month and the view of the river is always breath taking. The hooting of the hippos in the night is always welcome and the smile from the workers calling you by name is always lovely. It is a home away from home whenever we come working in Nyangana Health District. Since the days of Father Denier

Stopped here for a night after a few days in the bush. Terence was a great host with lots of knowledge of the area, its history and its people. We camped on the grass, but there are also chalets. We got light, power, and clean ablutions with hot water. The pool is lots of fun for kids anf adults. There's a great deck on the river for hanging around or for having a meal. There's a fully stocked communal kitchen for use! Bottom line - great place for a stop, great hosts!
