Great stay, but better leave your kids at home!
Reviewed By Excursion28468521783Had a good stay, comfy beds, spacious rooms, good food, professional treatments, but I don’t recommend to bring your kids, unless they don’t have much demands. Babysitter was excellent, but the facility for the kids not upto standards nor staff have any experience on how to make kids feel welcomed. I would have expected at least some water & some fruits available in the playroom. And during the single hour they where allowed in the pool to be allowed in all areas ( or atleast 1 sauna) as long as they didn’t disturb other guests. Our 3 year old was ok, but our 8 year old felt like in a prison. I would suggest not to advertise being kids friendly. SPA culture in this area of Italy is also pretty poor, hence if your from Germany or Dutch be prepared to go in the sauna with your bathing suit nor expect any special organization (herbs, auffkuss etc.)

Reviewed By WeehawkenNJStayed at this hotel between our long terms stays in Puglia and Umbria. We wished we could have stayed a little longer! First of all, you can hardly beat the view. All rooms face the small mountain town of Bagnoli. If you were to hang out in the early morning or early evening on the balcony, you are not only treated to the stunning scenery, but the slow rhythms of daily life can also be heard coming up from the village. Serene. Naturally, all the beauty and peacefulness in the world does little good without a great staff. The gentleman who checked us in was amazing. He bent over backwards to make us feel welcome and he is genuinely interested in promoting the little traveled province of Molise. So don't let your lack of knowledge of the area dissuade you from booking here, even if it's just a couple of days. They also appear to have "relaxing" amenities for those who want to "get away". Spa, exercise, mountain air, free breakfast, etc. Finally, I'm not sure you're going to find a better value with regards to price. This was NOT a $75 dollar hotel room. I've paid twice as much for a hole in the wall in Los Angeles near the airport. If I am fortunate enough to get back to Italy, I will definitely look this place up for a couple nights of relaxation.

The cafe where the complimentary breakfast is served was very gorgeous and staff is extremely helpful. The hostess was very kind, warm, and hospitable. Would most definitely come back again.

Reviewed By stoneymiddletonladI was in Isernia, my grandmother's ancestral town, in June of 2019 and meant to write a review then but never got around to it,so I do so now.. I cannot really comment on COVID-19 prescautions there because I traveled pre-COVID. The Residenze Portacastello has much to recommend it. Great location, very pleasant public spaces, reasonably priced. My room was on the ground floor and was a bit dark at night, but a) the air conditioning was great--it was very hot outside when I was there; b) my room had the most spacious and best appointed bathroom of any hotel I stayed at across my several weeks in Italy, and c) while yes, you had to walk a ways to the cafe that served breakfast for the hotel, it's a pleasant walk and the cafe itself was also very pleasant. I would definitely stay there again.

Wonderful little hotel in a remote village
Reviewed By Alfred DRoccamandolfi is the village that my grandfather immigrated from in 1911. I've visited several times, but this was the first time at the hotel under current management. The entire place, both rooms and common areas are sparkling clean and well furnished. Bed was really comfortable. The staff, Enzo, Roasanna, Rudolfo and Nonna were super attentive, friendly and made us feel like family. We only ate breakfast there, but it was plentiful and delicious with lots of homemade items. Highly recommend!

The Palace of the delPrete di Belmonte rises in the middle of the old town centre of Venafro. The palace, on one of the cardinal roads of the Roman town, was restructured in neoclassical style around 1860. It has an enchanting internal garden, surrounded by other buildings. The upper floor of the palace is furnished with period furniture and the rooms, all with air-conditioning, wi-fi and private bathrooms, are available for guests. The ground floor, once used to keep carriages, has been transformed into a beautiful hall available for small conferences, private meetings and other social events. On the main floor, guests may enjoy breakfast in an elegant drawing room decorated with frescoed ceilings depicting views of the town and the delPrete country estates. Venafro, of pre-Roman origin (Samnites), is located in the lovely Volturno valley at the feet of Santa Croce mountain. In Venafro, one can find ruins of a Roman aqueduct, theatre and amphitheatre. Also of interest is the late-Romanesque Cathedral and the lombard Pandone castle. The archaeological Museum in the ex-convent of St.Chiara exhibits Roman finds, including a precious collection donated by the old delPrete family. The Latin poets Horatius, Plinius, Varro and Martialis praised Venafro because of the healthy air, the beautiful surroundings and above all, the olive groves from which even today is still produced an extraordinary fine olive oil.
A Very Special Place to Stay!
Reviewed By TakapunaThis little palace would be one of the most special places in the area of Molise. This was the second time we have stayed here - and it was even better than the first ! We were there nearly a week so had the little apartment, which suited our needs perfectly. The location is a perfect base for exploring this area and Venafro has its castle/museum and the Winterline Museum - both of which are must see’s. Dorothy our host, gave us a lovely tour of her home, including the little chapel and the original kitchen. Dorothy is extremely helpful with restaurant and attraction recommendations. We highly recommend staying here if you are in the area.
