The Westin Trillium House, Blue Mountain

A fair, comfortable room

Reviewed By Smashing2

Stayed in a deluxe room which looked exactly like on the hotel/Marriott site. Room was comfortable. Bed was good. Mattress not hard not soft. Blankets were comfortable and not hot. Room air conditioner wasn't too loud. Couch could convert into a bed which wasn't advertised. Though the couch cushions themselves had no density as when sitting down I fell all the way through. Sink, microwave and mini fridge in the room. Included plates and utensils which were great to have when bringing back restaurant take out to eat in the room. Coffee maker wasn't great as the coffee pods were too large for the small machine. Coffee maker also wasn't clean as a past room guest must've made instant noodles in it as my coffee came out oily and smelling like noodles. Bathroom was a normal bathroom. Shower itself was good with waterfall option, strong pressure and quick to heat. Toiletries were the Westin "Heavenly" brand which came in bulk refillable bottles and easy to use. Outdoor pool required reservations which was easy enough to do. Gym didn't have that many machines or weights. Actually the pool and gym were rather small considering the number of rooms at this hotel. Parking is available underground with limited spaces and $20 + taxes. Internet wifi speed incredibly slow. Was getting less than 2 Mbps during my stay. Was faster just staying on my mobile phone's 4G. Standard TV in the room -- not a smart TV. TV was in a weird position as well being way too high if watching from the couch. No soundproofing at all with the door. Could easily and clearly hear conversations in the hallway when lying in bed. Service at the front desk was quick and fantastic. Overall a fair room but not great value for money. Prices seem to fluctuate between $310 - $600 CAD.

Water front view

Reviewed By wallyjeannie

We have stayed at this hotel at least five times, once bringing a relative with us. The rooms are clean and comfortable. We enjoy looking out over the water. The TV and other appliances WORK. (That's not always the situation. We've stayed in hotels/motels around the world.) We enjoy the breakfasts that send us onward on our travels. The dinners are good, but a bit pricey.

Great times at Grand Georgian

Reviewed By Bela-Toronto

We were at Grand Georgian building for a dance competition my daughter had the Victoria Day long weekend. The village was busy and so was the hotel but the front desk attendants were very helpful and fast making sure not to create long wait lines. Kudos to everyone but specially to the blonde girl with short hair in glasses, Kathleen, Keyla for assuring that all the needs were met on time. They were helpful with suggestions on what to do around the village. We forgot a book behind and after we came back, they arranged it super quick to receive it and during this time they apologized (even it wasn’t their fault) and opened the lounge room for us to wait. The housekeeping service was very nice also. Since COVID and everything, you have to request their service and they come and assist you. The pool opened that weekend and it was busy with mostly kids, it required a reservation for a time slot. Always a pleasure to be at Blue Mountain at every season of the year. Can’t wait to come back

Dissapointed

When you're paying $400-500/night you expect exceptional quality for the stay and ease of service ... instead ... From the day of my arrival it was one thing after another ... the fact that I had to pay for my whole stay plus the deposit upon check in is ridiculous ... my room smelled like wet dog when I arrived and had to set up me leaving for an hour so they could come in and ionize it (not sure what that is), the room was also dirty, all surfaces (wiped them down myself) ... also, the porch was filthy (full of bird droppings) I had to call front desk to have it spray washed. There was no replenishing of soap or lotion ... I asked for replenish of coffee n sugar and was told I needed to pay for it!!

Friendly. Clean. Economical.

Once again, it was a perfect stay! We've stayed here at least 3x and every time is easy. The room had a facelift recently and was super clean. The beds are so comfortable. The shower head has a ton of water pressure. The ac blows very cold. The fridge and freezer and microwave are great to have available. Check in was fast and friendly. I love that you can just back your vehicle up to your door-super convenient. We will continue to book at this hotel wherever we're in Owen Sound!

Theft from room

Reviewed By johnnyf583

I would have given 4 except for theft. I left a tip for the cleaning staff on the first morning of a two day stay. When I got back to my room the first night the money was gone but nothing had been done in my room. No bed make up, no new shampoo, towels still in tub. I then checked to ensure nothing else was missing and it wasn’t. When I checked out in the second day I asked about cleaning staff and the front desk confirmed that the staff wouldn’t have been in due to COVID restrictions. So I let them know about the $10 that went missing and they chuckled. I let them know that it was theft but didn’t raise a fuss as I wasn’t missing anything else. Needless to say that I extremely disappointed that money was taken from my room. I wasn’t looking for compensation but I did find out that balconies were being painted and people were going in and out of rooms. Not for me to figure out but I would have hoped they might have shown a little more concern. What if it were jewelry.

Ok for a Comfort Inn but....

We stayed here so that we can visit Tobermory. The hotel was fine for our long weekend needs but there are a few things to address. The hotel is not accessibility friendly for peeps who use a walker. My mother needs one because climbing steps is out of the question. We had to be creative as to how she can get down to our car. Second, the fact that housekeeping does not go into rooms disturbs me. We had to put out towels and wash cloths and trash-no the beds were not done at all. Considering we were fully vaccinated, we were not happy. Third, I was not happy of someone actually distributing breakfast. What are we little kids? Fourth, keurig makes lousy coffee. Why the hotel has it is beyond me-luckily Timmys was next door. Finally, one of the front desk clerks was rude to us-she criticized the US (my adopted country) for its overall handling of Covid. Because I was surprised on the protocols. Also they did not apply any points I got to the room charges. Think they can do some improvements-there is room for them.

Heathcote Haven Bed and Breakfast

Heathcote Haven Bed & Breakfast has been called by guests "A Hidden Jewel" "An amazing retreat from the city!" It's an incredibly quiet setting with vistas that are stunning. We have 2 lovely suites that are are private. Each has TV,DVD,Bar Fridge,AC,WIFI. A Hiker's Haven

Reviewed By Anna T

I recently stayed at Heathcote Haven with friends and used it as a home base as we tackled three portions of the Sydenham section of the Bruce Trail. I stayed in the spacious Valleyview Suite with a comfortable king bed, soaker tub and separate shower, mini fridge and large screen tv. Our rooms were located on the second floor of the home which provided us with privacy. Not that we wouldn't have enjoyed sharing our stories with Jocelyn who, in my opinion, is the perfect host. So friendly and accommodating but also left us to enjoy our time on our own. The rooms are very clean and the breakfasts were hearty. Thornbury is a short drive away which provided us with dinner on the two nights. I would highly recommend Heathcote Haven to Bruce Trail hikers or for anyone looking for a comfortable B&B, hosted by a most warm and welcoming (with a great sense of humor) host.
