Admiral's Inn & Gunpowder Suites

A charming, historic boutique hotel set in a secluded section of 18th century Nelson's Dockyard, offering casual elegance and friendly, personal service, provides the perfect backdrop for relaxation, romance, special events and being active if you choose. The 32 rooms and suites are housed in 4 historic buildings on the waterfront and a headland 100 yards across the bay. The hotel offers a small non-swimming beach, spectacular infinity edged pool, a spa and two excellent open-air restaurants, Pillars and Boom. There is a complimentary boat shuttle to the swimming beach in Freeman's Bay and kayaks to explore the harbour. The perfect hotel for relaxing in peace and quiet or for finding plenty of activities (sailing, scuba diving, hiking, snorkeling, yoga) and fun (several restaurants and nightlife) only 5 - 10 minutes away. A great spot for honeymoons and weddings for 2 to 200.

Special Property in a great location

I spent the week in early May 2022 at the Admiral's Inn during Antigua Sailing Week. The location and grounds are very special and historical. The grounds are kept up nicely and are really spectacular. The Admirals Inn rooms are average. Granted, I realize this is a historical building, but improvements could be made to make it a bit more comfortable for people. Adding a coffee maker and a small refrigerator would be huge! Not having coffee service in the morning in the room was frustrating - especially for those coffee lovers like me! The bed was average and could be updated. Adding a fan to the rooms would be nice as well. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful though. This resort is over priced for what you get in a basic standard room. Admiral's Inn is definitely charming but the rooms are very lacking and distracting from what could have been a spectacular stay! The restaurant "Pillars" for breakfast was subpar. They offered the basic breakfast fare that wasn't that great. We opted to eat other places in the morning (La Brasserie) yum! Everything seemed much too overpriced at this resort.

This hotel is so much fun. Like staying at a hotel in Nantucket 40 years ago…the AC was so great i had to get out a sleeping bag! The rooms are very cool—the hotel is built out of a workplace at an old English Harbour naval base…very unfortunately the windows did not open but the place is breezy enough, the ceilings are high—my room had two floors with a small bedroom in the sort of attic space…all totally clean and a staff with good humor—a very nice stay. Thank You!

We've just returned from a week's stay at The Inn and I can honestly say that every aspect exceeded our expectation. We travelled with our two teenage boys and we stayed in interconnecting rooms which worked out perfectly. Beautiful decor and spotlessly clean! We used the tennis courts, pool, gym and beach every day and we couldn't have asked for more. The staff are completely charming and always on hand to assist. We ate out at Catherine's Cafe & Incanto and we'd recommend both if you fancy an evening away from the hotel. We'd love to return one day! It's an absolute gem! Thanks to all the wonderful staff that made our trip so memorable.

I’ve stayed here on and off for a couple of months. It’s the perfect escape between work. The view is amazing. I sit out to breakfast and just stare at the same view every day overlooking English harbour and it never gets old. The pool is great. The rooms are comfy and the owner super helpful. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else.

Great place to stay

Me and a friend opted to stay here rather than the resorts. We are glad we did as we met lots of lovely people and was really sociable. Rooms are basic but meet the needs as we only slept in them and spent very little time in the room. Room was decorated nice and had a shower. The owners are friendly and relaxed as well as helpful in regarding the local area. We met many nice people on our stay in Antigua especially staying at the waterfront. Great views from the balcony. ??

Villa Touloulou

Great choice

Reviewed By David H

We were restricted in our choice of accomodation as we needed two separate beds, and most places only offered double rooms. We stayed in the Habiscus suite at Villa Touloulou. Calvin met us at the bottom of the drive even though it was now well into the evening, and showed us around. The kitchen contained all that is required for cooking and eating and included a couple of bottles of beer and water (a bottle of milk would have been really welcome!). It was too late to go out and find a restaurant so it was an early night with no food! Next morning we explored the building. One double bedroom (with mosquito net) led on to the bathroom with shower, and well stocked with toiletries. The second bed is in the kitchen/entrance area, with a sofa. Through the main door is a huge balcony with table and four chairs, two separate armchairs, and a sunbed. It was great to sit out on the balcony for breakfast and dinner, joined by all the cheeky garden birds seeking out crumbs. The view over Falmouth Harbour was superb. The road to the Villa from the main road was difficult, full of potholes which flooded in the regular rain, and our taxi had difficulty in getting up the steep approach. Calvin was really helpful throughout, solving issues that arose, and recommending a really good taxi driver. Overall, a really good place to stay in the Falmouth Harbour area.

Vine Cottages

JJ is very helpful

Reviewed By Lisa B

I’m giving this hotel a 4 star review despite my disappointment in the upkeep of the place because it’s location to English Harbour and so many restaurants is very good and JJ has been very helpful and has come through on every ask that we have had. Unfortunately the some areas of the place seem neglected and require some upkeep, but I can imagine the costs involved for that on this island don’t make that an easy task. Some of the descriptions I’ve seen online are untrue as in, there is no bar or restaurant, I’ve heard or seen nothing of “spa services” or an in-room safe. We are in cottage 4 and I feel it may not be as nice as the other 4 cottages on the property but I can’t say for sure as I haven’t been inside the others. They do look much nicer from our vantage point on our screened balcony (that is full of openings\rips making it useless to keep bugs out). It would be better to have it open aired like the other balconies as the way it looks now, adds to what I’m referring to as lack of upkeep. The pool chairs are falling apart and the cushions are covered in black mould so not all that inviting and nothing like pics that I’ve seen. The space is still very comfortable especially the beds! They are great if you like a good firm mattress. This place could be a gold mine with a little TLC and likely a fair chunk of money to update some things. All in all, we’ve had a great vacation and JJ has delivered on everything he has promised and has offered us great connections and advice.
