Upon arrival I was told the room would not be cleaned or serviced whilst there , the breakfast was again reduced despite hotel being quite full. Rooms were quite basic and the decor looked tired. Location is excellent for DVB stadium and you can walk into city too. But I won’t be rushing back

Reviewed By winonat63My husband and I stayed at this hotel because we visited Dortmund for a soccer game. The hotel was in a perfect location to walk to the Phoenix See, where many restaurants were located. The hotel was near the train station with access to the stadium and the city center. I highly recommend this hotel with pleasant staff and a wonderful breakfast.

Reviewed By kmoria727933Excellent hotel with very little to complain about. Close to the Westfalenhalle and stadium, a couple of kilometers outside the city but the westfalen park is gorgeous. Staff are always smiling, acknowledging your presence and helpful.

Reviewed By petero251966We had a business meeting with 50 people over 3 days. I was lucky and received an Upgrade to a Junior Suite. This had a great toilet, comfortable bed and nice views. Also the conference facilities were ok. The buffet style breakfast and lunch were also better than average. Would come back here

The 3 star Mercure Dortmund City has 82 rooms and is located in the centre of the city. The modern hotel offers WLAN, a cosy bar and a meeting room for up to 45 people. It is a 5 minute walk to the main train station, museums, the concert hall and many other attractions. Convenient public transport takes you to Westfalenhalle events hall and Westfalenstadion stadium. The hotel is an ideal base for business and tourist activities in and around Dortmund.

No fridge in standard rooms "to save the planet," but apparently, superior room occupants are not so concerned. No safe in rooms. Bathroom with green and gold coloured tiles from the 70's/80's had cracked floor tiles with blackened grout from years of water on the floor. Glasses on request, but they wouldn't deliver to room. Body cream on request was so old that it had liquefied. Rooms are only cleaned on request, and they don't tell you that on the reservation or at check-in. Then chambermaid knocked and opened door without waiting, despite "DO NOT DISTURB" sign. Very poor breakfast with basic rolls and cheese/ham; allegedly broken toaster miraculously reappeared after two days of complaints but still had to ask for bread. You cannot economically repair an old toaster so it was obvious that the reason why it was withdrawn was to avoid having to put out bread. Scrambled eggs on request but no sausage (is this Germany??), bacon or beans. It's definitely not worth €14. Save money and go to one of the many coffee shops nearby. The so called "cosy bar" is actually at reception and I never saw anyone there. In 4 nights I only saw 2 other guests at breakfast time, which was not a big surprise. This is a poor excuse for an Accor/ Mercure Hotel. There has to be better value in Dortmund.

Reviewed By jamiezraIt’s really a shame… this hotel is mostly totally fine, and I love that it was so convenient to the train station. But the beds are AWFUL. I mean *bad*. It’s like sleeping on top of a table… so hard, I’d wake up with numb fingers, hands, and feet. The pillows filled with crumbly material deflate immediately as well, making it just impossible to get a good night of sleep. It’s a shame, really!

Not many places for eating nearby but underground was only a few stops away from city centre. We walked it to the city centre and took around 45mins. Hotel was nice and clean. Receptionist very welcoming. Room was nice but unfortunately just 2 beds pushed together so it’s annoying when they seperate Didn’t get to use the restaurant but note you need 2 vaccines + booster or 2 vaccines and negative test to eat in the restaurant. They have a fridge at reception offering snacks, drinks and alcohol. Around €30 euro for taxi to/from dortmund airport. Would definitely stay again!

And we weren't disappointed, the room really could do with a refurb, nothing dirty or uncomfortable, but everything in it looking very tired. That said, the old style bathroom was better in design than a lot of new ones, and it isn't of the plastic one piece you sometimes find in Ibis. However, we loved it here. All the staff were great, nothing was a hassle either with the stay or finding the place, and there is a cool backdrop of BVB's stadium you can get a pic of. Would definitely return, the place is tired, but it's not expensive, it's easy to get to and the staff are great
