Lovely little motel with an even nicer host

Reviewed By lollypoplady

We stayed here in January with our toddler and the host could not be nicer. Greeted with muffins and a mini one for our daughter. Her cot made up beautifully in the room (often find hotels forget this request)Motel is not modern but very clean and comfortable and in a good location for food if doing a road trip in the Catlins. Would recommend.

Hidden gem ?

Reviewed By LucyJaine

We absolutely loved this spot! It was warm, welcoming and full of rich history. It’s one of the last classic country pubs left so I’d recommend checking it out. We stayed in the charming hotel connected to the restaurant and bar and everything was just perfect! There is a secret garden bar with a playground for the kids and very affordable cozy Cabinda out the back, perfect for hunting trips! We are from Wānaka, in the area for a family hunting trip and will 100% return! 5 stars!

Promising but overpriced

Reviewed By Kernel_Mustard

Business trip for 1 night stay. Motel looks good on the outside and the rooms are well appointed and tidy. The bed was very, very soft though so far too uncomfortable for me. Also i opted for the 'continental breakfast' for $14 which was a mistake. see pic provided. Not really continental and overpriced. The wifi didn't work for a while but eventually came right. Overall for the price paid compared to other motels i've used it was a pretty average experience.

Classy, but at mates rates

On the outskirts of town (so no traffic noise) this is a mix of luxury and economy. The complimentary drink was unexpected but welcome. I recommend paying a little more for the fabulous cooked breakfast.

Unusual place

Reviewed By 673wendyc

The premises are an old hospital. We stayed upstairs in The Matrons room complete with Balcony and TV room. Was a floor you would if necessary share with another couple. Had shared kitchenette and bathroom facilities but we had it to ourselves. Place is quite rundown but our room was neat and tidy. For $100 per night we felt we did ok. Downstairs was booked out with Freezing workers. Is more like a backpackers accommodation so felt we got what we paid for. Was more than adequate.

To the two ladies behind the bar (sorry we didn’t get your names) THANK YOU for your immaculate vibes and amazing service! The beef nachos were THE BEST I’ve ever eaten, and that’s no joke coming from a nacho connoisseur! You have the BEST aioli also ❤️ Thank you so so so much! If you visit this place- get some food. I’m sure whatever they make they will go above and beyond to make it delicious. But I recommend the nachos. Thanks team!
