Lovely building and staff. The downside - the room was hot on the first night which made sleeping difficult. On the Sunday evening it appeared the meal had been pre prepared and warmed up, not the same experience as the previous evening. The overall impression was that I was overcharged, a pity.

You only have three hours to check in! (4pm-7pm), so I couldn't even book the place

Reviewed By Tony G

And on top of that, there's not even a mention of it on booking.com . When I politely asked the hotel if they could be flexible, as I couldn't possibly get to the place before 8pm, whoever replied was quite curt with me. Almost as if they didn't really want me there. A local hotel for local people perhaps? There are much better hotels nearby anyway, to be fair, so it's odd that they are so selective.

Really friendly, clean and nice hotel to stay in. Good location to get to Woolacombe, Ilfracombe and Westward Ho! to visit with my mum to see the sea. Our disabled room was next to reception and when I accidentally pressed the emergency bell there was a member of staff knocking on the door to check all was OK immediately. Felt really cared for. Restaurant was super. Had everything a usual pub has at reasonable price. Definitely recommend. Free parking too.

Lovely setting but few issues

Reviewed By Debbie T

Lovely setting for Hotel but the Restaurant really let it down. We booked for dinner at 7.30 but when seated were told there was an hour wait. This was fine as we were not in a rush. Food eventually arrived but such a disappointment. One order wrong, all food just luke warm and incorrect vegetables. The waiting staff were very attentive and friendly but clearly very stressed. They did their best under difficult circumstances. We did receive a discount and free bottle of wine but the evening was spoilt by the bad food. Room ok but clearly in need of some TLC and a feather duster. Very big cobwebs over whole of light fitting and mould around shower door. We only stayed one night but would not recommend for any longer. Could be really good.
