Considerable potential
Reviewed By BritneyNorthGermanyThis is a very good hotel in an interesting East german village on the edge of the Harz Mountains. The hotel is located in an impressive building that gives it character. Excellent welcome at reception. The rooms are well appointed but are showing their age somewhat but no real complaints. Pity there is only a shower over the bath. Very comfortable beds. The hotel has recently changed ownership and is now in the hands of the Berstein Group. It looks as if there is money now being invested in the hotel - already apparent in some of the public rooms. Good sauna/swimming pool area and also a small but well equipped fitness room. Can also play pool. Breakfast was also very good - standard but wholesome German breakfast. Not much going on in the town but this is the attraction - interesting buildings, castle, etc. Very close to the eastern end of the Harz. Recommend the Roseburg castle just outside the town.

Reviewed By Mozilla TLage gut, Bus bis Hoymer o Badeborner Straße, am Kreisverkehr mit großem Turm -> leicht zu finden. Guter Ausgangspunkt für Wanderungen im Selketal Personal sehr freundlich Zimmer sehr gemütlich Frühstück sehr lecker Preise O.K.

Poor service
Reviewed By WraikenI was meant to be met at the hostel at a pre-arranged time to be let in, but the person meeting me was late. Other patrons at the hostel were smoking inside, so as a non-smoker my stay was not pleasant. The hostel was a within walking distance to a bus stop. There was no one around when I left, so I didn't know where to leave the key. I would not recommend this hostel as the service is poor.

Reviewed By Bernd HMittlerweile kann man uns sicher schon als Stammgäste der Residenz bezeichnen. Seit Jahren kehren wir, wann immer ein Besuch in Ballenstedt ansteht und eines der Appartements buchbar ist, hier ein. Die Unterkünfte in diesem familiengeführten altehrwürdigem Haus sind liebevoll eingerichtet und sehr gut ausgestattet. Durch die Lage Ballenstedts, der Wiege Anhalts, sind die meisten Sehenswürdigkeiten des Harzes schnell erreichbar. Die Residenz-Jacobs garantiert die nach einem anstrengendem Ausflug notwendige Erholung.
