Reviewed By luishenriquen2021Two days ago I and my wife had been boat cruising in Halong Bay and decided to overnight at this hotel when back in the town area. Everything had been fine till night, when my wife was mistreated by two female receptionists and their two male colleagues working as security guards at the casino on the first floor. PreviousIy I had been there alone for one hour approximately, while she had some phone conversation with some relatives and friends at our room. Our plan was meeting and having something to eat and when she came downstairs we met at the lobby and went to the restaurant on the second floor, which had already closed. Then we returned to the first floor; given the late time no other places would be available around and at least some quick food was still being served. It was around 11 PM and when trying to return the four people above mentioned simply blocked her entry. Despite showing them the key of our room and my explanation about our marital status, they simply kept on insisting that she was a stranger and should show her passport. To remark that never I had been asked for any kind of ID document there and they would accept me, a white one, back without any argument, but not her: a black woman who maybe doesn't correspond to their aesthetical expectations from who should look like and be treated as a "real guest". Gender bias is also to be considered in such a situation, being my wife the only female customer inside the casino, while all the other ladies were regular staff members. Only by having help from the lobby receptionist, who promptly located our passports - 2 diplomatic ones - in her computer and forwarded them to those people, we managed to return and eventually get two sandwiches. May this review be an alert to those in search for accommodation in Halong Bay area: royal harassment, rudeness, prejudice and arrogance also swirls as freely and quickly as gambling machines, roulettes and tables inside the Royal Halong Bay Hotel. I and my wife will return to Vietnam and recommend it as a fantastic place for sure, given how lovely local people, culture, natural sceneries and food are, but never such a place.

Reviewed By dannymcdonaghGreat service, tremendous view, got an excellent package for dinner and breakfast from there facebook website. Breakfast and dinner were quality food and great quantities. The gym is spacious and there is both a table tennis table and tennis court in addition to the pool.

Guest rooms in the hotel are equipped with a flat-screen TV with cable channels. With a private bathroom fitted with free toilet.
Value for money and all you need as a foreigner/westerner visitor/traveler/backpacker.
Reviewed By GollywalkWe found this hotel after visiting quite a few others. What an excellent surprise. We stayed for 3 nights. The price was very reasonable. Good layout in rooms, bathroom and a soft bed mattress and bedding. Friendly English speaking helpful hosts try to assist you in anything. Free breakfast and beer and basic Western breakfast. Very well positioned close to where you want to be (Sunworld, shops, port, beach, transportation cable car, bike rental, etc.)The bonus is games, books, TV, music center and even a guitar available to keep you and children busy. It is also in a quite environment, so the relieve from traffic noise was welcomed. Meeting foreigners there from all over the world and sharing experiences in English was great. I will return and definitely recommend this place fully.
