Great if you travel alone

So I visited Turin at the end of February/ beginning of March when there were almost no tourists at all because of the current outbreak of the corona virus. Nevertheless I had a really nice journey. The hostel made me feel comfortable with a clean environment, a kitchen and a living room to use whenever I want. Not to mention tea and coffee. On top, the breakfast with biological products offered my beloved rise-milk and I could start the day happy and satisfied. The place is great if you are traveling alone and are looking to meet people. Even though at this time at had the hostel almost to myself I got to know some nice people who were also without a companion in Turin. Even though the hostel isn’t directly in the city center, I could go there easy by bus or tram in less than 15 minutes and a Lidl just around the corner allowed my to spend little money by eating some Italian pasta. On my last day I could leave my bag in the hostel after the checkout until I picked them up in the evening before leaving Turin. Everything was without any inconvenience. I would definitely go there again.

Hostel ok, breakfast a disgrace; no room wifi; staff: a lottery

Reviewed By A9362LVchrisg

Clean spacious hostel, but cold rooms [beds only come with 1 blanket], breakfast far too expensive for what is offered [prepacked rusks, manky [=old] crossant [one per person], bad quality coffee from a machine, 'juice' [actually a kind of flat pop]; hostel far from the centre, necessitating public transport [adding at least Euro 3.60 to one's stay]. personnel: pot luck whom you encounter. Some staff super friendly and curteous, one employee is however a head case. Although I applaud the hostel's decision to employ people with disabilities, in this case it was perhaps ill-advised. One was actually scared to approach the person at the reception as he seemed to be permanently on the edge of a major nervous breakdown. He seemed to find it impossible to multi-task [as one has to when working at reception], and often left guests standing in the lobby for a quarter of an hour or more, ignoring them, whilst he finished whatever paperwork he had to complete.

Thanks to the geographical position of Alessandria, the structure becomes an excellent base from which to discover all of the Monferrato with its landscape of rolling hills covered with vineyards and ancient villages with castles steeped in history. Heartwarming place

Either you love ... or you hate "The Chiostro". And I loved it very much, although "spartanic" ist the word you're looking for to describe it. This hostel is located within an impressive, historic architecture that has seen everyone, starting from Napoleon and ending with ... ehm ... me. Here, you won't find perfect WLAN, neither a kitchen, nor a fancy bathroom in your room. But you'll find way more sophisticated things than these – if you're able to read between the lines. Bring a traveller's spirit to understand, that "The Chiostro" is about the people you meet. All summed up, I spent almost two months here and I can absolutely recommend the Chiostro as a place where you're welcome to participate in wonderful normality. Allora vieni!!! Enjoy Marco's, Vanda's, Laura's, Davides's and Anna's spirit of friendliness and commitment. You're invited to fully appreciate this spectacularily normal place.

Combo, Torino

Combo is located in the old firehouse of Turin, in one of the most typical and dynamic places of the city: Porta Palazzo, Europe’s largest open-air market. We offer private and shared, with up to 7 beds, a big loft, that can host up to 16 people, suites, tatami rooms, family rooms. Each room is equipped with air conditioning and free Wi-Fi. The reception is open 24/7 and the hostel has a common kitchen, a laundry room and large common areas. At the ground floor you can find a bar-restaurant, a space for private events, a café overlooking the square and Combo radio booth. The menu is inspired by the market, using its local products, offering simple and tasty dishes: from breakfast to brunch in the weekend, from lunch to a drink after dinner. There is a weekly schedule of musical, artistic and cultural events open to the public.

Misleading listings: double not a double, had to walk two floors to control A/C, no response from customer service

Reviewed By asacusack

Totally misleading listings: our "double bed" was two mattresses pushed together -- have a good time sleeping in the crack! -- and "air conditioning" couldn't be controlled in the room at all, only by walking down two floors to reception (who forgot TWICE to turn it on after I'd gone all the way there). Also quite self-satisfied and pretentious on the whole, with "occupy and act" graffiti on the stairwell, as if this money-making venture cared about resistance -- I just want a place to sleep, thanks, not this spirit-crushing co-optation of real politics... When I wrote to them about the two more practical issues mentioned above, I got no response at all. Great.

Residence Nube d'Argento

Perfect location for skiing

Reviewed By Dan O

Residence Nube d’Argento is a small property in the little village of Borgota. Note that this is not in Sestriere village. Sestriere is 4 kilometres away by road, or one ski lift away! The lifts are just 100 meters from the hotel which makes the location perfect if you don’t need the night life of Sestriere. (There is a bus connecting about every two hours, but it doesn’t run in the late evening.) There are a few restaurants in the village, a basic food store and ski rental. This hotel is basic. The room had a small kitchenette, a tiny shower cabin, a desk and a decent double bed. Breakfast is served in a small room in the basement. We were asked to choose from early or late breakfast, but I’m not sure if that really made a difference – people seemed to use both times different mornings. Breakfast was good enough. You can go for half board. The dinner is then served in the neighbour hotel Hermitage. Downsides: * The reception is not maned in the evenings, which makes the security in the hotel a bit weak, since the room keys are hanging just behind the front desk. * The room was dated and worn, and our room was not cleaned during the 3 nights we stayed. * There is no sound insolation in the hotel what so ever. Every noise in the corridor or the room next door could be heard. I can still recommend the hotel. Perfect location for skiing and a decent price.
