The best available Cottages to stay near Morocco

May 2, 2023 Darleen Reid

The fragrant air of Morocco seems spiked with local spices. Cradled by the dunes of the Sahara, the Kingdom has been inhabited for hundreds of thousands of years. And from the bustling Medina of Marrakech to the mosaic of leather tanning vessels in Fes, Moroccan culture is still steeped in rich tradition. The collection of blue-bottomed boats in Essaouira has become a monochromatic hallmark of the city, while the cafés of Casablanca will invoke your inner Bogie or Bergman.

Kiteurlaub mit Familie und Freunden: Fast perfekt - mit ein paar kleinen, jedoch wichtigen Mankos :)

Reviewed By Elias S

Hello :) 2022 is our fourth time in Dakhla (3/4 times in Dakhla Club). So we first have to say that we of course really enjoy(ed) every stay here. We are a group of 9 members (families with children & friends) and collected some „improvement suggestions“. - Things which also didn‘t change a lot the last years / did not get better. Often there was the situation in our rooms that the staff put our (used) towels away, but didn‘t hand out any new ones. So we always had to ask at the reception for it. Another - maybe worse - problem is that they picked up used (wet) towels from the floor (in our mind usually a sign of the guest for needing a new one), folded them and put these dirty towels e.g. on the bed. Maybe you can change that :) Next one, the pillows: Those are not very comfortable. We all would prefer softer ones, which better adapt to the neck. A point, connected with these two, is changing the bedlinen maybe a bit oftener. We spent 11 nights in our rooms and didn’t realize that anytime. Another problem, we already gave feedback about years ago, are the missing hooks / possibilities to hang up clothes, the washbag (nécessaire) in the bathroom and other things like that. Maybe you could add those, it‘s not a big act and also not expensive, but really usefull! The following issue was our wish to get a beachvolleyball (like promised in your whole program). But it wasn’t available for our whole holidays in Dakhla club, although we asked for it in our first days and the reception (your team) always told us “tomorrow we’ll get one” - and maybe it also would be great to spend a bit more money in the volleyball-net, because it looks like someone built it for fun in five minutes and it also works like this… Furthermore we have to say that we had the impression, we were not the only ones who wanted to play Volleyball but couldn’t. Something really really annoying is the constant loud music the whole evening - nearly everywhere -. It starts during dinner, where it makes it nearly impossible to talk to each other (sometimes even not with the guy on the neighbour-chair). And the problem here is that there is nearly no comfortable possibility to sit / talk with friends anymore. For nobody it would be a problem, if there is music in general. But maybe it would be possible to do it “a bit” quieter or not on every spot where it usually would be quiet and nice to sit and communicate. Also in some bungalows it’s impossible to sleep because of that music, especially with little children / babies… So maybe it would be a solution to make noise like this only at the Beachbar and NOT in and around the restaurant? Our last aspects are given to the kite-school of your house: KBC Dakhla. Their rescue service was really bad this year. We were used to something better in the last years. Often there is the situation that someone has a problem (with his kite or something like that) in the water, but the rescue is absolutely missing, even in more dangerous situations, where it would be really needed. But we all payed for rescue and then also expect this. Because Kitesurfing is too dangerous to be negligent here. Maybe that’s up to the increasing number of guests in the last years…. So maybe you can use a second boat? More over we really have to complain about your kite material. Round about half of our travelling group rented it during the stay. Most of it was in a horrible condition, especially the kites themselves, e.g. big holes in it. As a result they often ruptured during Kitesurfing: A problem we couldn’t only observe in our group, also at other guests, who rented your material… After a lot of criticism we just want to repeat, that in total we liked our holidays. We have to give big compliments to the whole staff and also the kitchen! You are so kind, guys! If you achieve to fix those aspects, we and probably also some other guests would more prefer come to visit your nice desert hotel! ?

Riad Atya

Good value for money, great host

Reviewed By SmileyMay

Atya is located on a quite street, away from busy parts of the Medina, yet close to the beach and all the other interesting parts of the town. Azzadine is a wonderful host, who is always available, VERY responsive to all your needs and speaks good English (rare for Essaouira). The rooms and all other spaces are clean. The riad is a great value for it's price. For a higher price you'd get a bigger, better lighted room and a softer bed in other riads. Wi-Fi was very weak in our room, however well-working Wi-Fi in Morocco is a luxury and is not to be expected at this price level. Overall, would definitely reccomend to visitors who need English speaking host and who are on a budget :)
