10 Top-Rated Villas in Morocco

May 2, 2023 Marianna Hollaway

The fragrant air of Morocco seems spiked with local spices. Cradled by the dunes of the Sahara, the Kingdom has been inhabited for hundreds of thousands of years. And from the bustling Medina of Marrakech to the mosaic of leather tanning vessels in Fes, Moroccan culture is still steeped in rich tradition. The collection of blue-bottomed boats in Essaouira has become a monochromatic hallmark of the city, while the cafés of Casablanca will invoke your inner Bogie or Bergman.

Riad La Rose Du Desert

BEWARE THEY CAN TAKE YOUR MONEY.

I write to share my experience with this Riad and warn all Trip Advisor readers to make their reservations through an internet travel portal. In January 2020 I stayed for a week in this riad with my wife, we found them reliable, charming and helpful. When our stay ended, they offered us the possibility of contracting directly with them the next time so that it would be cheaper as there was no agency commission. The following month through Western Union we sent him 138.90 euros for a reservation from May 23 to 26, 2020. (Later we had the Covid 19 pandemic and it was not possible to travel). Ryanair canceled the flights to Marrakeck and refunded the money. So I got in touch with Youseff through e-mail. Many e-mails have been sent, most of them unanswered, until last week I traveled back to Marrakech and visited the Riad to get an answer about my case, but he didn't help me. He told me that he couldn't return my money, that's why I'm telling my experience to warn future travelers.

I lived in one of the villas for 1 year. I can say that from the moment the contract was signed till the end of the tenancy our stay in Dar Lamia was outstanding!! Not a surprise why many expats choose this residence. It can be daunting to relocate to a country like Morocco with a small kid and another on the way, but Celine et Hugo were always there to guide us and help as much as they could. Their team is amazing as well. The restaurant serves yummy local food and I will never forget my breakfasts and aperos by the pool, always super clean and warm even in winter months. The SPA is a unique experience for the senses and the little corner shop inside sells tasteful pieces of jewelry and clothes for a luxury night out in Marrakech nightlife. It was indeed a dream. Back to London, life does not seem the same I am afraid... For sure I will be back and I do recommend it 100%

Lovely riad

Just stayed for a week with my wife and loved it. Didn’t start great with the transfer we’d arranged with the riad arriving an hour late but other than that everything was great. The room was nice, the breakfast and evening meal excellent and the staff very friendly and attentive. Would highly recommend.

Riad Papillon

Riad Papillon is a small, intimate Riad located at one of the best neighborhood of the medina Dar El Basha next to the Pasha Palace -just about 10 minutes walk to the Place J'ma el f'na. This beautiful riad has solar heating panels, beautiful dipping pool in garden courtyard, fountain on roof terrace and BBQ, TV, Minibar, Contemporary colors and traditional craftsmen design. Wonderful English speaking staff- trained and experienced. Riad Papillon has several amazing Zelige handcrafted tree of life tile designs which are really quite special. On the roof terrace there is a traditional tent where your dinner can be served by candlelight under the stars. Riad Papillon is a haven of tranquility with niches filled with books, fossils and buddahs on display. There really is something quite magical about Riad Papillon.

Super Raid and fantastic Host!

Reviewed By ren_m136

If you are looking for a classic riad in Marrakech in the middle of the medina, this is the right place for you. The raid is beautifully designed and has all the necessary equipment for modern tourism. The real star is the host Aimad, a really absolutely nice and helpful person! Breakfast is also good. The way to the riad is a little narrow and seems slightly strange at first, but it always takes 1-2 days to find your way around the medina. Super Riad!

Perfect staying and very friendly staff

Reviewed By AntraZ5

We went there in March 2018. Booked in last minute for a really small amount- it was cheapest staying during our 7 day trip around Morocco. And it was the best experience ever- welcomed with tea and sweets, quiet place and very friendly staff. Kids were exited about pool, dinners and breakfast was superdelicious. And Mohamed (sorry if incorrect)- host even took us to a little trip to a banana plantation in his friends greenhouse, his village and lemon tree plantation for free- it was so nice. Felt like in a fairy tail. Many thanks and sorry for so late review! Martins

Simple and authentic riad

Reviewed By ChristianStr2017

Convinced by the numerous good reviews, we stayed for several days in this tiny riad of five rooms around a central courtyard with two orange trees. Not far to djemaa el fna. Parking close by. Warm welcome. Stylish rooms with good beds and quirky plumbing. No noise isolation to the courtyard. No sitting or dining room. Breakfast outside, same with excellent dinner (on pre-order), but somewhat chilly. Sunny roof terrace. Tiny spa with super hammam and massage applications (to be pre-ordered). Somewhat optimistic website (eg no sauna). With some more upkeep, should have four points, especially for the great friendliness of all staff, very helpful for your stay.

Private spacy bungalow with nice garden. The big pool is a bliss. Great place outside of Marrakech city center to relax after busy Medina. Great opportunity to use the kitchen for eg. own snacks or fridge. Get organized before you come as it is obviously away from shopping infrastracture etc. Staff very helpful to support with all questions and needs.
