The best available Condos to stay near Umbria

April 27, 2023 Karren Gelb

Centrally located Umbria's principal cities include Spoleto, Assisi, and Terni. The capital, Perugia, is famed for its chocolate. Take a tour bus or prepare for daredevil Italian drivers if you opt to rent a car. Assisi's Basilica has a host of treasures, including works by Giotto. The town is also home to the crypt of St. Clare, patron saint of television. St. Francis' meditation retreat is in the mountains to the north. Classes at Velia's Cooking Style in Terni make good use of local produce.

The place is not what the hotel's website says! The pool was half full ( was being filled up by a hose extension). it took three days to fill it up. The pool area was completely abandoned with bathroom full of Dust and dirt. there were only two umbrellas at the pool area and we had to stay under a tree for the shade. sunbeds were dirty. No services at the pool. to get water we had to walk all the way up to the restaurant. Room is cleaned every three days. No car parking. lack of staff. The restaurant staff were very helpful. apart from the nice view on the beautiful Umbrian hill. It was an awful experience. and for the amount i paid I would rather stay at a 5 star luxury hotel. Its more of an Airbnb than a Hotel

Very disappointing stay!

Reviewed By Mattycoops

Booked three of the ‘self catering’ apartments to attend a friends wedding. Upon arrival the first thing that we noticed was cat hairs all over the apartment floors, after being inside the rooms for not even five minutes the electricity had tripped at least fours times. This continued every few minutes throughout the stay, this included during showers when the water would go from freezing to scolding whenever the power would trip. Once we had checked the apartments over we noticed that two of the ovens weren’t working and the third apartment didn’t have an oven at all. None of them had kettles, toasters and one was without any cutlery at all. We approached the staff to voice these grievances explaining that what we were given was by no means self catering but an empty room only. The director was incredibly defensive and rude shouting at us in the reception insinuating that we might have stolen cutlery on our first day and that kettles and toasters were not included. Only after we showed her that they had clearly advertised all of these items online did she attempt to offer us £10 off per night for a 116£ per night stay. With us already having spent 200£ on food shopping for the trip which was wasted as we could not cook, We told her this was not acceptable as a standard room cost £70 and was what we got at which point she threatened to withhold our passports if we didn’t pay the entire amount. All in all it was a terribly disappointing experience which we are all glad to be over with. Would definatly not recommend anyone try this place as it was nothing like the experience that they have advertised online.

Well .....

Reviewed By Kingspoon

Where do I start .... at the very beginning of course . Just turning up at this imposing edifice is humbling , being virtually the only occupants was boggling . It was mid-week we were on our way ,ambling, to Rome . By this point in the trip I would have been quite happy to stay in Italy forever , after the cloying desperation of England the relief had been palpable getting out of there . If you get a chance to stay here - take it . The surroundings are very beautiful , the rooms are beautiful . Breakfast is lovely and the Coffee was fabulous . Being in an OLD Monastery really really sets the scene . It is surreal .... The staff are characterful to say the least BUT they were professionals and did their job well - I really liked them . There must be other old Monasteries you can stay in BUT this was the coolest

Beautiful views and nice hostess

The hotel is about a 10-12 minute walk into town and has parking (5 euros) and is pet friendly. The rooms are LARGE and so are the bathrooms, they even have an outdoor seating area (we did not use it, it was way too cold). Everything is very clean and looks brand new. Bed was large, but we found it a little on the hard side. Large shower in the bathroom too, but no shelf to put your toiletries. Hosts are very nice and went out of their way to accommodate us. Check out is at 10am, which we found to be very early. We just stayed overnight and enjoyed it, it was perfect for us. All the rooms have a spectacular view of Perugia and the surrounding countryside.

L'Uncinaia Holiday House

Belonging to “Ordine di Malta” until 2006, happily situated inside the natural area of “Ecomuseo del Tevere”, the historic building of our tourist “Residenze L’Uncinaia” was renovated and re-open in 2008 as the first step of an ecological and ethical development. The project has gradually become a kind of business network kept together by the passion, the competence and the friendship of its promoters. The vegan restaurant “Yoo”, (in the vicinity of our tourist home) where our guests are invited to enjoy their dinner, was born in 2013 in the place previously occupied by a traditional local restaurant. The new aim is to welcome and please all the guests sharing our priority: the respect for the nature and the human being. Thanks to an original space organization and a new concept of the service we offer, the restaurant “Yoo” represents the ideal frame of the welcome – warm and professional – that our guests will receive. The two main aspects of our network project – the historical prospective and a very close contact with the nature – merge harmoniously together matching with a continuous research of new solutions and a vivid look towards the future. The Holiday House and the Restaurant “Yoo” are located not far – just a few kilometres – from the historic and artistic centre of Perugia, easily reachable by car or by bus. Perugia, ancient and artistic town, is at present going through a deep social and cultural metamorphosis, embracing new trends and leaving behind all old prejudices. It will offer our guests a new updated face and will givee them the opportunity to test the new frontiers of gastronomy and hospitality, always surprising them with the prestige of its tradition. The eight apartments of L’Uncinaia Holiday House, furnished in traditional Umbrian style and spirit of the poor art but with, of course, the modern amenities, which can sleep up to 30 people, to whom they offer: heating, DSL line, satellite television multilingual, laundry, parking, with remote controlled gates. Our staff is always attentive and helpful, friendly but never intrusive.

COVID-19 Review

Covid-19 Review We had a confirmed booking with this hotel via Booking.com for Mid July 2020. As we are all aware the Covid-19 has impacted the world and EasyJet cancelled our flights to Italy. This poor customer service hotel, declined to offer any refund during this covid-19 period, refused to issue a refund fully knowing our flights are cancelled and we have no option not to travel. Requested a refund from Booking.com but this hotel blocked our requested through them too, apparently i booked at a special price and its no longer available so cannot refund! I will never recommended this poor rated hotel to anyone. If at theses hard times you cannot support and be greedy enough to take my money, good luck to anyone who books this hotel!.

The complex consists of six farmhouses with a total of twenty apartments which dominate the valley and offer a magnificent panorama, facing on one side the beauty of Città della Pieve, and on the other, an enchanting green landscape. All the apartments, handicap accessible, are equipped with a kitchen, a living room, two bedrooms and a bath, with the exception of two units which have an open living room/kitchen area. The panorama one can enjoy from any of these apartments is one of the most enviable in Città della Pieve, offering an exceptional view on the town where one can dine in comfort, perhaps by moonlight or candlelight, for an enchanting and romantic evening.
