The best available Campgrounds to stay near Puglia

April 27, 2023 Jeremy Dunfee

A patchwork of vineyards and olive groves, dotted with whitewashed hill towns and sun-bronzed beaches—Italy’s southern heel has no shortage of photogenic landscapes. There are a few surprises, too, including the baroque city of Lecce and the Itria Valley, with its UNESCO-listed trulli houses.

Villaggio Camping Bosco Selva

Bosco Selva camping and village is a comfortable (3 star), 11.000 sqm campsite situated in a lush pine and oak forest which offers its guests a refreshing shady respite in the hot days of summer. It is located about half a mile (800 m.) from the famous trulli zone of Alberobello – a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Camping Bosco Selva is a wonderfully relaxing place to spend some time due to the welcoming and peaceful atmosphere there which is also thanks to the professionalism of the hands-on owners. The owners, along with the rest of the staff, strive each day to ensure their guests have a pleasant stay, by maintaining everything in perfect working order. An environment that has, in its love for nature, for tranquility, for safety, and for cleanliness, the winning formula. Camping Bosco Selva has assigned pitches which are in a tree-covered area.

Handy site, perhaps a bit ‘tired’

Reviewed By Lyndsey W

This site is very very handy for the fabulous town of Alberobello, a UNESCO world heritage site comprising thousands of stone ‘trulli’ houses - you can walk in, in 20’. But as the pitches are unmarked and amongst the many trees of a pine forest, (legitimate) random parking by other campers precludes others from finding anywhere accessible/suitable to pitch. Very old fashioned camping, which is not without charm, but oddly only 2 std + 1 ‘stand up’ toilets for women, even tho 6 showers and 4 ‘foot washing basins’. Curious!

Proper cabins with everything one needs. Very friendly staff, and the two doggies so adorable! Hopefully the local administration helps managing this campsite, since the 'clubs' in front of it seem to dominate the place.

A great place for those who search for a simple campsite to relax

We stayed in mid July for 2 nights and liked this place very much! It is a family-run campsite, basic but clean and it is located in a nice area full of olive trees. The staff is very very nice and helpful and there is also a bar/restaurant on site. It is on a hill, on the way to the sea, so the beach is not that close but with a car everything is easily reachable and the area around it is beautiful! You can visit the towns Rodi and Peschici and some great beaches around, and foresta Umbra is very close too, for trekking etc. We found this part of the coast less touristic in general, but super beautiful. Overall, the campsite is a great value for money, for people who just want to relax. Totally recommended!

Calm and cosy

Reviewed By H M

We stayed at this location in a small apartment. The apartment was quite big, one bed room, a bathroom, a sitting room with kitchenette and a good terrace for alfresco eating. The apartment had everything we needed, was clean and the only minus was the mattress quality, that was a bit tiered. The beach is just across the road, about 100 m distance, not crowded in September :). The camping is run by a family, and is small, calm and cosy (which is not usual in the area and very much appreciated by us). All the family members were very kind and gave us all needed information about sightseeing, exploring the Gargano area, etc. The camping has a small shop that sells local vegetables, eggs etc, very convenient and very good quality. Location is wonderful if you are set to the beach and also for visiting the many regional Gargano´s attractions, historical cities, Umber forest etc. We would definitely stay again in this Camping Village.
