Centrally Located, Good Value, Kind Host
Reviewed By 4quartetsAfter staying in resorts, it was nice to self-cater and be among locals. The hotel is centrally located, with several supermarkets and restaurants within walking distance. The room was clean and had air conditioning. There are several good food trucks nearby. Christelle is a wonderfully kind host, and speaks great English. We enjoyed our few days in Uturoa for the local color and trip to Tahaa.

Reviewed By Heka_BRThe pension is 15 min walk from downtown, but at night there is not light in the small street that head up to the pension, so bring flashlight, if you plan to go to the city at night. There is a short path, where you take the stairs in front of the rooms, in the garden and leads to a non paved path flanked by banana trees and then to a small road. I did not like much as was a irregular ground and could get very mud with rain. Then I realized that the pension's neighbour had a small paved road that lead to the same street. If you descend the stair, at the end of the fence,at your left, before the ground path in between the bananas trees, you will see the paved road. Take it, easier to walk. About the pension: It had nice views from Tahaa and Uturoa. Room was tidy and clean, and there was a small fridge for guest use, outside the room. In front of the room had a varanda with table and chair, where was served the breakfast, which was included in the price. The breakfast was simple: half baguete with marmelade, buttler, a fruit, coffe and milk. But, in my opinion was a nice thing, as no other places included breakfast. Max the owner was helpful and I realized he did some renovations in the pension. Before there were 3 rooms ( in accordance with site and guides). I saw 6 rooms now and the swimming pool is not there anymore, replaced by a small jacuzzi, that can fit 2 person. Some of the rooms had a small kitchen, so if you do not want to go out at night, that one is a good option.

Reviewed By Eric LThe view is absolutely amazing. You may even get lucky and see humpback whales in the bay. Kev is a great host and will give tips of what to do on the island. We had a rental car and I would highly suggest to get in Raiatea to get around.

Perfect Choice for A Short Stay on Raiatea
Reviewed By Andrew CGenuinely beautiful property directly on the ocean in the southwest quadrant of Raiatea. Very well-maintained property with tropical plants housing five clean/well-equipped oceanfront bungalows with air conditioning and small private balconies. I highly recommend Fare Vai Nui for a very peaceful and comfortable stay on Raiatea. Make sure to book a rental car!

What a gem of a hotel and restaurant
Reviewed By Julia HWe booked this hotel at the last minute after being let down by another hotel on Raitea island. We were not disappointed! This is a family run hotel and is absolutely fantastic. The people are very welcoming, the beach front cabins are extremely clean and comfortable, and the food is to die for! The island of Raitea has a stunning volcanic landscape with 3 high peaks which are covered in impenetrable ancient forest but does not have any beaches like some of the other islands so there is no beach front anywhere to speak of. The hotel faces west so gets a wonderful sunset too. The breakfast is wonderful - homemade vanilla yogurt, fresh fruit, homemade pastries and croissants, fresh juices and eggs if you can fit them in all served beautifully. Dinner at the hotel is exceptional. We tried the Special fried rice dish, the chicken thai curry, the duck in honey sauce with dauphonoise potatoes ( wonderful), the exotiques prawns starter (extraordinarily good) and the thai green curry with prawns which was the best thing i have eaten for ages. You will not be disappointed with the food which is all made fresh in the kitchen. Thank you for making us so welcome.
