For the best views in Russell come to Bellrock Lodge. We are on the hill overlooking the bay and the lovely village of Russell. The village and wharf are only a 5 min stroll away. At Bellrock you will have luxury en-suite rooms with private entrance and French doors leading out of your room onto your private patio. Each room has: Android Smart TV, DVD player, Radio/CD, air conditioner, Nespresso Machine, fully equipped kitchenette and either twin beds (2 singles) or a super king. We have off street parking with EV Charging station and laundry facilities. Please note our rates are "room rate only", a breakfast Basket can be pre ordered.
Fantastic Room with a View
Reviewed By Lynne MWe stayed 3 nights here and WOW whats a fabulous room and view! The room was very spacious, even the bathroom was large with two sinks, and plenty of spaces to put your things. It was so well equipped, there was nothing they did not provide, they have thought of every scenario and provided what you would need. I loved that there was two luggage racks so you didn’t have bags on the chairs. Very comfortable chairs, dining table and outdoor seating, also with the addition of two comfy loungers. There was a very large comfy bed, and you could pull the curtains in the morning and look at the beautiful view. The view was stunning from the deck and we spent many hours sipping wine and taking in the view. There was also a laundry you could use next to our unit. The location was excellent, right in Russell town, there was an uphill walk up the short drive, and like 2 minutes walk and you were in town. Its such a beautiful place Russell on a nice day. The hosts lived upstairs and were very friendly and helpful!

Reviewed By RoamingGirlxxAbsolutely fabulous, this charming villa provides everything you can possibly need, beautifully decorated, immaculately clean, huge comfy bed, and a shower that just melted away all of life's stress, and on a cold night it was cosy and warm. Sue, our hostess couldn't have been more lovely, she obviously cares a great deal for her guests enjoyment and is incredibly good at what she does. The breakfast was a delight, as it was cold we were welcomed into her house and served beautiful homemade bread and preserves, cereal, fresh fruit and Yoghurt. We were thrilled with every aspect of our stay and would definitely recommend.

Really comfy bed and couch, high ceilings with ceiling fan. There was outside seating at both ends of the rooms - so morning and evening sun. A great place to stay.

Perfect getaway
Reviewed By EstervKPaula and Gary are the warmest people who make you feel oh so welcome. The apartment was huge, had everything we needed and a big deck with an amazing view. We got lots of info about the area and borrowed their bikes to ride the lovely cycle track in opua. We also used the tinny to catch some fish right on our doorstep. The (optional) breakfast was delicious. The best place to stay in the bay of islands!!

The resort showcases amazing, bright artwork and furniture and each room is decorated with its own unique pieces. It's perfectly situated just 5 minutes from Russell Town Centre, rich in history, featuring New Zealand's oldest operating restaurant. Included in your stay at Donkey Bay Inn is a vintage Rolls Royce with driver for your transfers to and from dinner in town. The heated floors in the main dining, living area are a lovely touch on crisp mornings while you enjoy your coffee and delicious breakfast prepared by your hosts. Everyone is so kind, courteous, welcoming and helpful with any questions about the property, town and its surroundings. It truly was one of the most magical places I have ever stayed at and I will be back again to soak in the spa perched on the cliff edge!

Good - apart from strong smell of damp.
Reviewed By P AWe were in the Garden Suite, which has a lovely sea view, is nicely decorated, and is quite spacious for two. I notice a lot of reviews mention breakfast but we didn't get that (maybe because we had a 'grabone'deal, or maybe the place has changed hands). Breakfast didn't seem to be an option... But that wasn't a problem for us. What would definitely put me off staying again was the strong smell of damp every time we came into the room, which wasn't dissipated by opening all the doors and windows... not healthy or pleasant. There was mould on a couple of the electric plugs. I guess it's because it's underneath another unit. The other thing to be aware of is it's very dark walking up and down to the unit at night from the road. It was only later we found a torch in the cupboard... And in daylight we saw there were lights along the path...So probably there was a switch somewhere inside that we hadn't spotted. Perhaps the owners could put an information sheet inside the unit to let people know. Bed was comfortable, and there were little extras like coffee and body lotion. Russell itself is a charming and historic little town. Te Waimate Mission (an easy drive away) is definitely worth a visit if you're interested in history.

Reviewed By LilyMc6466Can’t believe our luck, this place was such a perfect spot for us. Peace & quite, amazing service by our wonderful hosts, nothing was a problem!!! The homestead is steeped in history & the decor is in keeping with the history, this place has “great bones”. Rooms are well appointed and spacious. The hosts are a dab hand in the kitchen!!! There’s lots of love being put into the gardens and outside areas. Next time we are back in Russell this is where we will stay.

Kokomo Retreat has 3 units available for holiday accommodation. It is situated on the water front with direct access to the beach. The Kiwiana Apartment is a 2 bedroom self-contained unit with full kitchen and living area. This unit faces the road with a distant view of the sea. It has its own deck and BBQ facilities. The Pacifica Apartment has a lounge/kitchenette and opens to an outdoor area and close views of the water. The Pohutukawa unit is a studio unit with combined bedroom and breakfast kitchenette. These 2 rooms have an optional inter-connecting door for a family or friends travelling together. All units are self-contained, modern, new and luxurious. There is a spa pool with views over the water for your use, BBQ areas and kayaks. The owners are on-site and very friendly and helpful.

The view from the hot tub and the lovely beach are really special and Russell beaches and township are great to explore from here :)

The best scenic location
Reviewed By Peter SIf you love the sea, cliffs, walks along the rocks, being lullabied by the ocean, the opportunity to sit inside or out (depending on the weather) and read or nap, all with a fully fitted kitchen and spacious apartment, then this is it. Villa du Fresne fits the bill perfectly. Our hosts were gracious and accomodating and this was the perfect place for us to relax and be refreshed, yet be only three minutes from all the eateries and cafes of Russell. As a treat for my wife who loves all things about the ocean in all kinds of weather, it was, indeed, the best scenic location
