Reviewed By cathsc12I have been here for 5nights and 1 more to go. Great location in the middle of the old city Mardin. Can see many things at walk-in distance. The hotel manager Veysi is very helpful with information, sight seeing suggestions etc. the room was superb. No complains at all. The other staff Shemuz & Ahmed were also very polite and helpful. Always smiling and checking on me if I needed something. Watermelon treats at the top terrace was fabulous in the evenings. Highly recommend this hotel.

Reviewed By armano368To stay in Merdin boutique hotel is simply unique lifetime experience. I stayed for 4 nights in this fantastic hotel and It was fully amazing experience. People are so friendly and helpful, stone rooms make you feel very local and comfortable, breakfast is amazing, Internet works properly and one of the best side is the clear and full view of Mesopotamia valley. Hotel is in oldtown and very close to everywhere -shops, atms, historical places. Simply just go and enjoy in max. There is one of my best place I have every stayed and travelled. Fully recommended without any doubt. 10 stars.

Hotel is located in heart of old Mardin near all attractions, shops and restaurants. I visited 128 countries and I can’t complain nothing only the best.

Friendly, clean and central: great value in Midyat
Reviewed By TurktravellerFinding ourselves with a few days free from meetings, we decided at the last minute to re-visit the southeast and so booked ahead for two nights at the Midyat GAP Hotel for the first time: this would be our third visit to Midyat. It was a holiday weekend and Midyat was busy. It has become a regional draw for Turkish tourists after its magnificent architecture and views across into Syria were made famous by a popular television series filmed here. Recently built and run by the Midyat municipality, the Midyat GAP has all the virtues of its era and kind: big rooms with decent bathrooms that work (and include hair dryers), a substantial decent breakfast in a pleasant and airy dining room, and very comfy beds and linens. From the hotel, it could not be simpler to find your way into and around the old city. And the staff went out of their way to be helpful. We had phoned ahead from Istanbul and reception gave us the local prices of buses and taxis from Batman airport. When it was time to move on to Mardin, the receptionist – we never learned his name!! - took the time off to drive us swiftly and well up and over the Tur Abdin and across the steppe and then up again into the winding streets of Mardin. We had first visited Midyat in the late 1990s on a quick taxi-tour from Diyarbekir, but come back again in 2011 when we had stayed at the recently restored Kasri-i Newroz. We dined here both nights this trip and were again charmed by the service and high standard of regional cuisine; an excellent wine list too in a region famous for its wine. We drank an excellent red The Midyat GAP Hotel is a great place to stay in Midyat, and truly amazing value! wine labelled ‘Levi Monastir Surani Sarapi.’

Terrible service
Reviewed By smarkovskaThe room on the photo is actually one that should not be offered to guests at all. There's no ventilation in the bathroom and all the steam piles up into the room. Its only connection to the outer world is half a small window which opens into the hotel corridor, so actually no air can penetrate the room. Plus, the room is right next to reception desk, so forget you can sleep at all. I heard all the videos the night porter watched on his phone, all calls he had with whoever, and the stationary phone kept ringing in the night. PLUS, they don't speak any English and I suspect they use this as an excuse for the terrible service. They made us pay for 2 nights despite the fact we stayed only one; when we asked them to change the room they said (via Google Translate) they couldn't as we already "used" it, and when we insisted, they lied the hotel was full - which I saw with my own eyes was not true. In two words, find another hotel in Mardin.

Isınma sorunu yaşamadık,klima yeterli oluyor , Oda temizdi .. WC’ler kolay tıkanıyor sadece. Keşke tekrar gidebilsek??? otelin önüne araba sokmak zor , yol dar, ama değer. Burada kalın. Çalışanların ilgisi de çok iyiydi?

Reviewed By Elcin TIf you pay the hotel at the beginning, you can not find any one, any little service during yr stay, even no one at the reception :) 122,5 steps everyday to the main street. So cool structure but no management. Unfortunately poor price/performance..

Reviewed By ParsiKadeWe had a bit of trouble finding a good hotel in Midyat. Hotels were either too expensive or not good enough. But Demirdag Hotel had a relatively good price, rooms were clean and well equipped and staff were super helpful. One thing to note is that the hotel is located in the “new” center of the city and is about 2 kilometers away from the old town, which since we had a car, wasn’t a problem at all.

Reviewed By Clara GStay away! This hotel must have changed hands since any good reviews. It needs to be taken completely off your list. Thick with cigarette smoke as soon as you walk in, chronically dusty and mouldy and extremely cold. When you turn over in bed you get a puff of old dusty smoke from y to be pillow. I didn’t even want to leave my bags in this place. I’ve never experienced such a disconnect between the hotel website and reality. I checked multiple times if I was in the right place. I’ve actually become sick with a head hold since staying there. Just to top it off the manager on reception was really rude. Maybe it’s been a long cold winter for these guys, but that’s no reason to give them another chance. I have been living in Turkey for over a year and have rarely been disappointed with the famous hospitality until now. This is the first time I’ve been unlucky. Seriously, I really want to make sure no one else books this place until it cleans up its act. There are many great hotels in Mardin, Kadim Otel is no longer one of them. Sorry!

Historical building yes...good to stay ? Nope!
Reviewed By rosebuds007I had so much hope for this hotel but ended super disappointed and somewhat cheated. The property is a historical one and I love those places. The building is beautiful. Upon arrival we were taken to our room which is not like the one pictured when you choose the room at the expedia website, in fact all the rooms you choose show the same picture so keep in mind there is a big chance that you are not getting that room. I though “ok is not that bad” it was 3 floors down going with luggage through dangerous stairs. Is a historic building I understand that but the hotel does not have anyone to help you. I went down with our things praying to God for our safety. The heater was not working properly, I complained to the person in charge and requested another room even paying extra for upgrade but they replied that it was fully booked - the place was EMPTY. I even looked at the key cabinet in reception and only 3 key slots were empty. We spend one night in that freezing room and I even had nightmares. It was SOO cold that I stayed in bed till past 11 am because I could not get the courage to get out of the tiny blanket and up. Finally decided to leave the bed asked and went through the old city looking for another hotel and making sure their heaters were fine. Ended booking at the Gazi Konagi , a property a little bit further down. I went back to get our belongings again risking our lives bringing those up 3 stories and proceded to check out, the lady in charge refused to do a check out and I asked several times. I wasted my money and my time in this place, thank God the other hotel provided more than what I was looking for and gave me a good rate after explaining our situation.
