Quite new and clean hotel
Reviewed By ProtravellersThe location is not far from the center and otherwise quiet, but every now and then a train is passing the hotel close by (almost not disturbing your sleep). The building looks pretty new and the rooms are clean. The beds are quite narrow, but otherwise the room is OK. The restaurant offers you a breakfast, which is also OK. We had also a dinner that was surprisingly tasty - one of the best I have ever had in Russia. The reception can also a little bit English, but the Russian or Finnish are better understood. All in all the hotel was a good choice in this city.

Reviewed By Ellu53The hotel was otherwise ok, but "the free of charge WiFi" was only available for those who have a Russian mobile subscription. When I asked reason for this, the receptionist answered that this is according to Russian law! I have stayed in several Russian hotels and WiFi has been available for all customers. If this hotel cannot or does not want to serve all customers with WiFi, they should mention it in their marketing material.

Reviewed By Sergey KAnd you'll find yourself in a charming late XIXth century - early XXth century mansion. It was indeed a merchant's house before the communist revolution. He was quite rich and owned several river ships transporting merchandise from the Ladoga lake to St Petersburg. In 1917 he hardly avoided persecution, was exiled to Soviet Central Asia and his house was expropriated. By the final days of the USSR the building was in miserable condition - collapsing roof, smashed windows, water in the cellar. Its new owners made a tantalizing effort to bring the construction back to its former beauty. And my guess is it really cost them... Yes, it's very cozy inside. Each room is different but nicely decorated. Immaculate bathrooms. Client-oriented breakfast. You mark your choice of "the main course" the day before (fried eggs or omelette with various dressings or just porridge) and they'll prepare it when you go down next morning. Very cute and healthy. There also come juice, cheese, ham, bread and butter and jam as well as tea or coffee. Absolutely enough. A spa-zone is currently unavailable and they do not serve dinners anymore. No worries - you'll have amazing meals at the Noteburg restaurant and hotel complex some seven minutes' drive from them. Quiet, comfortable, clean - what elese would you need for an enjoyable stay? And. yes, their location is perfect - right in the downtown, a couple of minutes' walk from the pier where small ferries going to Shlisselburg castle - the main local attraction - anchor. They also offer a free parking. No elevators inside though but the staff will readily help you with your luggage. Undoubtedly the best hotel in town. I'd even call it a trophy. Never hesitate booking it - you won't regret your choice! And they speak English - rare advantage in provincial Russia.

Simple, Clean and Economy-style
Reviewed By Cheese13Quite simple variant of budget accommodation, nevertheless ascetic rooms and amenities were decently clean. Centrally located, main attraction Korela fortress is just few hundreds meters away. Dining and drinking options are available next door. Service was pretty fine and free of charge drinking water availability on every floor is a pleasant bonus that many upper-scale hotels do not offer these days. Excellent for one-night sleep during the trip in Russian Karelia. Breakfast included, and it was totally okay but served in the room in the area surprisingly surrounded by commercial offices :) do not panic! The only thing that really bothers - we needed to wait for warm water for some time, and kept the taps open for several minutes until the cold water run off. But suppose this was because the hotel was empty in low-season (February).

Reviewed By minkkinenLocation was really good, great little smoked fish cafe opposite and a short walk in to town. Car parking a couple of hundred metres away, very reasonable with a live in security guard. It is a very short walk to the ferry which goes to Valaam. There is a very busy restaurant about 500 metres away on the Main Street, on the left heading er, I think, north. We found the Russian people to be very helpful and very friendly, not much English but that didn’t matter, they were so nice, we loved our visit and want to return.

Reviewed By Tero KThis hotel look from outside very bad, inside it is actually very good looking. Fixed old shool hotel, comfort rooms are very nice design and look, but floorwork guality is crap. Floor is very noisy, parket have been mount without underwork. Otherways i would like to give better rating, but here is not hot water! You get only cold showers. Staff says that it happens often and cant help. It actually can be helped easily, boiler have been mount wrong way and it is in separate own lines and of course it have not water pressure himself.
