Lovely place, ideal for Bwindi

Reviewed By OnwardTraveller

Lovely grounds just a couple of minutes drive up the hill from the centre of Kabale. Main block has excellent spacious rooms, well equipped and comfortable. It’s only a few years old. Nice restaurant with a good range of food options and separate bar for snacks and pool. Swimming pool in well maintained garden area even has a deep end and plenty of room to swim. Easy free parking. Only downside is weak WiFi and erratic/poor housekeeping: we had to keep asking for towels, a glass (there were two of us staying and it disappeared after the first night) and getting a simple bathroom repair sorted took far too long. Prudence was excellent in guest relations, as was Clare in the restaurant. Most staff were helpful though not all really spoke enough English for international guests. But a very nice stay, and ideal for the gorillas of Bwindi.

GREAT FACILITY AT AFFORDABLE RATE

The hotel being near the kabale-kisoro highway is a plus making it easily accessible. The hotel rooms are clean and housekeeping stuff did a great job toake my room spotless clean every day. The water heater worked perfectly well, the internet wifi was strong and worked perfectly well. The receptionist, Patricia was eloquent at her workstation and could address us guests by name each day we were on her desk..... Exceptional attitude which is not easily seen at customer care points in hotels within uganda. Breakfast was so limited in choice but what was prepared was real good.

Absolutely wonderful tranquil location

From the minite I arrived they did everything to make my visit memorable. The lodge is on a small island in Lake Bunyonyi. The site is beautiful and tranquil. There are multiple animals present to make your visit more interesting. The cabins are quite confortable and the staff went out of their way to be in service. I only spent a night there but would have liked to stay for several more days. I would recommend it to all my friends and would love to come back. Wi-Fi available is in reception area.

Marvelous Stay

When visiting Lake Bunyonyi, definitely stay at Paradise Eco-Hub! I absolutely loved it here and didn't want to leave. It's a quiet and tranquil place, away from the busy and noisy bay closer to Kabale town. The facilities are perfect, clean and the accommodation is with attention to detail. The Eco-Hub Foundation supports local projects and sustainability initiatives, which is great. Moses and Silas and the staff are most friendly and helpful. If you get the chance, staying in the King's Nest cottage is definitely worth it. Would 100% stay again.

Bugombe Gateway Camp

Nice coffee, nice food, slow service but lovely people

Reviewed By debwE8451CT

We’ve stayed in Bugombe for three nights. Meriano was super nice and lovely. He welcomed us with a pineapple juice and gave us a wonderful boat tour the next day. The view is very nice and the camp itself is a place to relax and calm down. It was also the first time that we could walk alone for a bit around the sea without being annoyed by traffic or vendors (no judge, but we were in Kampala for too long before haha). The food at Bugombe is really nice! Also, the (strong) coffee is delicious with notes of chocolate. You get a whole can of coffee or tea, which I find very generous. Apart from that, Breakfast was a bit simple, especially if you’re having the same everyday (pineapple, banana, toast, eggs + tea/coffee). The first day, they didn’t have milk and butter but Meriano bought it for us. Hot chocolate they don’t have. Beers were not fridge-cold but cold enough. Maybe it was because we were very few tourists and it’s off-season and covid-pandemic, but we had to ask for hot water in the shower every time we wanted to bath and they had to heat it with wood, so it could take up to 2 hours. Though they said, it’s not like that when the rooms are all full and used.. The wooden room was nice and comfortable. A bit cold though because they don’t have windows or a door to the balcony (just a curtain). Shower was ok, little water. (Western) toilet worked well. The bed was comfortable, good mosquito net. Since it was rainy season it was mostly cloudy and rained in the afternoon, so it was also a very little moist in the room and hard to dry clothes for example. Also too cold for swimming for us. But I guess it must be different during dry season. Definitely make a boat tour to some islands. We saw zebras and antilopes on another island. Also go to the local pork point and get some fresh fried or smoked meat, that was awesome! You get a good meal for 10K for two people. It’s opposite to the handcraft shop. Also check out the local market, you can find trousers and shoes for a good price. There is a tailor around and a couple of bars with pool tables. Locals are very welcoming and peaceful. Bodaboda to Kabale costs 10K per person. In Kabale you gets Jaguar Bus for 20K per person to kisoro. Very recommendable peaceful city! All in all, nice lodge! Not the best (and fastest) service during off-season. Unfortunately we couldn’t pay with credit card despite that Ana (the manager) has confirmed us that it’s working. No wifi also.
