The best available Bed and Breakfast Inns to stay near Guayaquil

May 12, 2023 Kelli Reichel

Founded in the 1530s, Ecuador's largest city and main port is the top access point for Galapagos cruises and home to a bustling import-export business. Tourism is on the rise as well, thanks to a new international airport and urban renewal projects along the River Guayas promenade and in the historic neighborhood of Las Peñas. The 465-step climb to the top of Santa Ana Hill provides sweeping views and a chance to stand on the site of the city's birthplace.

Beautiful spot above the city

Reviewed By CCWagner888

My 2 daughters and I stayed here in July 2017 after having spent a wonderful 9 days in the Galapagos. Could not picture myself staying in the city again, so chose a place with a more natural setting and quiet. This B&B was perfect. Fantastic views from our dinner table on the balcony, especially at night when the city below was lit up. The hosts were friendly and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. A small resort with nicely appointed rooms and excellent food. We were very comfortable in the king suite. Easy taxi ride into the city for sightseeing.

This hotel is family owned and they work very hard to provide good service. They will pick you up at midnight from the airport, and will take you there at 3 in the morning. I have stayed there 3 times, going to and coming from Cuenca. The hotel is very clean, they take great pride in their business. I will be going to Ecuador again, I prefer to fly into Guayaquil and will stay there again. They are only 5 mins from the airport, I communicate with them by Whatsapp, and they always answer immendiately. Incidentally, a very, very, reliable transportation service is [email protected] operated by Nestor, to go up to Cuenca and back down again.

Great Value for the Price and Very Convenient Location

Reviewed By JasmineMarti

I had conducted extensive research prior to selecting a hotel in Guayaquil. Given the city's - likely somewhat exaggerated - reputation about crime (I am sure it was worse in the past and the reputation persists), it was important to find a hotel in a safe neighborhood. Additionally, wanted to have easy access to Malecón 2000, which is Guayaquil's main attraction. Hotel del Centro proved to be the absolutely right choice for Guayaquil. Located 3 short blocks from Malecón 2000, it offered every convenience we needed in Guayaquil. It also had an air conditioning system that worked really well, as Guayaquil can be hot and humid. The hotel totally exceeded our expectations. It's also very close to the airport. While others have commented that it takes 15 minutes to get to the airport, it took us only 5 minutes to get to the airport. This could possibly be explained by the fact that we went to the airport very early on a Saturday morning. Since we were leaving this early, we asked if they could give us packaged breakfast and they said they could not, which was fine because the airport had some amazing cafes. Our room was spacious, as was its bathroom. Both were very clean, as was the hotel. The furnishings were not the most luxurious, but they were in good taste, condition, and completely functional. Check-in and check-out were a breeze. They were helpful in calling a taxi to the airport. Overall, the location of Hotel del Centro was excellent. In terms of its decor and everything else, this hotel exceeded expectations. Glad to have stayed at Hotel del Centro, and would do it again.

Could be much better

We were given the Presidential Suite (Room 101), and at first, it appeared to be a beautiful room. But then we tried to use the shower, and found the drain backed up, the shower doors improperly installed, and the shower frame had not been properly sealed so in very short order, the bathroom floor was completely flooded. We then tried to use the hand wand in the large two-person jacuzzi tub, in lieu of a shower. That would have worked had the drain to the bathtub not have also been clogged. We notified the front desk, who promised to send maintenance to fix the clogs, but they never came. Probably because the front desk was busy dealing with trying to sole problems and relocate other members of our large group who’d had much more serious issues with the rooms they were given. We won’t be back.

Charming Hotel in charming area.

Reviewed By paulknapp

This hotel is not your average hotel. It is a 1920's style mansion that was converted to a hotel at some point. It's a little rough around the edges, but was just fine for our needs. We spent a day and a half there as we were awaiting our flight back home. First of all, there are a lot of stairs to climb to get to your room, so be prepared. It's not terrible, but if you have knee problems, it may be a pain. All the rooms are decorated beautifully with old pieces of art and architecture. It feels a little dusty, but I kinda think that is the charm. Bathrooms are adequate. Beds are as well. This is not a Holiday Inn. If that is what you want, stay at the Wyndam down the street. If you like charm and being in a nice location close to restaurants and bars, this place is great! Staff is friendly and helpful.
