The best available Bed and Breakfast Inns to stay near Bielefeld

April 26, 2023 Nobuko Falco

Set on a pass between the northern and southern sections of the Teutoburg Forest, Bielefeld is home to about 325,000 people. Sparrenberg Castle, one of the main attractions, dates from the 13th century, as do the Altstädter Nicolaikirche (St. Nicholas' Church) and the Neustädter Marienkirche (St. Mary's Church). The city also figures prominently in the Bielefeld Conspiracy, a German internet joke that the town does not actually exist, but is rather an elaborate alien or government conspiracy.

The Dulcet Tones of an Electric Power Drill to Start Our Morning

Reviewed By markcE7056EY

TLDR: If you're going to stay in this hotel, ask them BEFORE you arrive to be placed in a room that is far away from the adjacent construction site! After a grueling two days of work in Bielefeld, my partner and I were looking forward to sleeping late since the checkout time at the Legere Express is 12:00. Instead of the restful morning we very much needed, our day began at 7:45am to the grating sound of an electric power drill penetrating a wall somewhere near our room. Upon expressing my displeasure at this situation, the hotel manager told us they have no control over the situation. The work is happening in an adjacent building and German law allows for construction work to happen from 07:00 to 20:00 each day. They offered to move us to another room, but was a poor form of compensation since a) we were already awake from the noise and b) we were checking out that day. A voucher or discount towards our next stay in one of their hotels would have been more satisfying given the situation. I am giving this hotel a three stars only because everything _else_ about the stay was fine; clean, great breakfast, good location, friendly staff.

Welcoming, warm and great value

Reviewed By Steven P

Ok, the price is quite low so we did not really know what to expect when coming to this hotel. We were pleasantly surprised by the warm welcome we got, even though the restaurant was filling up fast. The rooms are nice with a brand new bathroom. When my colleague and I asked to get a quiet place to sit and work together and have a beer, we later heard the beer was on the house. They also brought us potato chips :-) The food in the restaurant was great quality and the staff very friendly.

Modern architecture - water & plants inside, super friendly and warm

Reviewed By aiuyo

I first hesitated to book this venue, because the price for a bed in a shared room of these official youth hostels is usually higher than in most European hostels. But I booked, and I was overwhelmingly surprised: Comfortable beds, spacious rooms with lockers, a spacious hallway full of lights, plants and water basins, and really friendly staff. The entire building is super clean and new, and at the same time designed in a very warm and welcoming way, with plenty of glass and air. I had the chance to glimpse into two of the seminar rooms, which are similarly welcoming as the entire building, - if I should ever offer seminars, I will consider this location. The hostel features a little cafe, offering some snacks and drinks - maybe not enough for those people who eat a lot, but enough to not go to bed hungry. The location is easily reachable by tram, which links it to the central station and to the city center. City center is 10 minutes walk away; central station can be reached within a fast 20-30 minutes walk, in case one needs to get a really early train on a Sunday morning and the tram does not run yet. A large supermarket is on the other side of the street, plenty of fast food opportunities are within walking distance. Breakfast was included in my price, and it was actually really good, a variety of Muesli, bread, yoghurt and fruit. I can really recommend this Jugendherberge, and hope to be able to stay there again.

Visited the hotel for dinner with friends. This was a return visit for us as we used to live in the area and were never disappointed with the food or level of service. Traditional German cuisine cooked to perfection and friendly staff who were unobtrusive but on hand if needed. Very reasonable prices for an excellent meal with wine.

Great place within the nature

Reviewed By Julian P

Before booking be sure that this place is not central at all, its located within the nature in a forest. The location itself is great, the rooms are modern, there is enough space, it's clean and the outside areas are nice. I went there for attending a national conference of my organization so that we had the whole location for us so maybe my review is a bit subjective. But I can recommend it, the staff is friendly and helps wherever its possible, the food in the dining room is awesome! The technical stuff is modern and works well, the conference rooms are large, have lots of seats and all the technical stuff you need for presentations and group works. We only had a problem once when we brought our own food and drinks (as my organization always does) and the owner was a bit angry. That is the only minus for that location.

Also alles in allem, einmal und nie wieder. Schade.
