Miramar Surf Camp

Miramar Surf Camp consists of 3 individuals lodging areas, spread over a half acre beachfront property. We have 13 fully equipped A/C rooms nestled throughout the gardens which overlook the beautiful point break out front. There is lots of parking, a surf front pool, oceanfront restaurant area, yoga/training gym, game area, surf TV room, hammock hangout area and surf front living room! We are strategically positioned right in front of one of the best reef breaks of Nicaragua, in a place blessed by consistent waves and offshore winds all day. There are FIVE breaks within a 200 metre walk, to give you lots of opportunity to score uncrowded waves. It's not necessary have a car to surf in our area, in addition to the many waves within walking distance, we also have our own boat that provides daily shuttles to surf Puerto Sandino, El Transito, Salinas or other secret spots. This property is located in Punta Miramar. This beautiful left hander breaks over a rock reef bottom but still has a deep takeoff. The wave can be heavy with some nice barrel sections that flow into a softer section before it hits the inside and throws again. Provides long rides on the better days. Our hotel is located near Pipes. A-Frame Beach Break with a flat reef on the lefts. This wave has long lefts and rights and will barrel on most swells and works well on all tides. This property is also located near Puerto Sandino. This is the most popular spot in the area. An offshore break with boat access only. A very long left over a sand bar with rocks on the inside. This wave can be very fast and hollow at times and provide long rides. Also know as "freight trains" or "La Barra" works on low tide and the boats leave in front of Miramar Surf Camp. In addition to solid surf, the property has an oceanfront restaurant and small bar for guests to enjoy. Sitting atop the point, you can enjoy fresh burgers, fish, salads and the plate of the day whilst watching your friends get barrelled out front. We have a selection of local beers, fresh juices and sodas to sip on to keep yourself feeling hydrated in the blistering heat. Or take a couple to our oceanfront pool while you keep cool. For all the non-surfers, we have an on-site training area where you can enjoy yoga, jiujitsu or your own routine. We can arrange a variety of interesting activities such as horseback riding, paddle boarding, volcano treks or a guided visit to nearby colonial city Leon to enriched your vacation. We hope to see you soon!

Great surfcamp

Reviewed By maariusss

The miramar surfcamp has a perfect location directly at the beach with a great view. There are plenty of different spots nearby, one is directly in front of the house. We were there in May when the bigger swells arrived (great waves with offshore in the mornings) and most of the people in the camp were intermediate to advanced surfers. There was a boat trip to Puerto Sandino or other spots every day depending on the tide and wind (and coffee from 5am, very nice!). The hosts and staff are super nice, the food is great and we were lucky enough to have stretch sessions with James for sunset.

A special experience, we are so glad we stayed at Morgan’s rock

Reviewed By nataliemB8901FJ

Our stay at Morgan’s rock was perfect from start to finish. We had an ocean view room with a plunge pool and it was just beautiful, really spacious and clean. It reminded us of a safari lodge the way it is styled and doesn’t have glass windows only mesh so you really feel like you are in the jungle but also in luxury! The property itself is 4000 acres! and has jungle, farm and a huge private beach so there is lots to explore and activities to do. We did the monkey and sloth quest and loved driving round the property spotting monkeys and a sloth. The staff were brilliant and so friendly before and during our stay, especially Franklin and Harvy. The restaurant staff were also lovely and we really enjoyed all the food we had there, it was a really high standard. It is an expensive place but we really think it was worth it for the experience, we will not forget it!

Out of Control Crowded

Reviewed By Tim M

I have never seen that many people there and it took over an hour to get any food and 30 minutes to get a 10oz drink. Trash everywhere from mask to plastic cups. The pool was green and nasty looking, we never used it. We were going to stay 3 nights and left after two the second night we had to have food from the menu that you have to pay for. Not many using thongs and just grabbing food. I think they are bussing in people for day pass use. Total waste of money.

Wasted Day

Reviewed By Alton A

There was a rock climbing wall but you couldn't use it. The food was overpriced. The slide into the pool of water filled with debris not exactly the highest moment in life. I would avoid going even for the $10 fee which is reasonable. If you have a kid that likes a skateboard park he might enjoy it.

Lo Mejor

Reviewed By saxonknauss

With limited vacation time, the best and easiest way to surf an abundance of quality waves in a short period of time is to utilize an "all-inclusive" style surf resort. We chose Two Brothers based on their reviews, and after spending a week there, we were extremely glad we did. From the moment their guests step out of the airport terminal in Managua after arriving, to the moment they drop you off, they are catering to you. Upon arrival they make sure you feel right at home and help you acclimate quickly. The resort has amazing 360 views of the entire area and is nestled on top of one the best hills in the whole surf zone. It doesn’t matter that you’re not steps from the ocean because you will probably be spending more time in the surf than you can imagine. After having spent considerable time in Mexico, Costa Rica, El Salvador, and Panama, I can say that while staying with Marsh and Auggie, my wife and I consistently surfed the best waves I've ever surfed in Central America. Without compromise, they are 100% committed to putting their guests in the best waves for any given day. Unless the weather doesn't cooperate, I cannot imagine feeling deprived of surf. The peer pressure to keep surfing is the best peer pressure. Some experiences are difficult to capture in words, but the experience we had surfing that week, was as good as any. The staff at the resort was very friendly and eager to help. The food was plentiful and tasty with three fresh meals prepared each day. We never had the same lunch or dinner meal twice for an entire week. Some fresh seafood for lunch/dinner and local exotic fruit would be a nice addition to the menu for the next time. The communal setting for meals is nice too. It allows guests to get to know each other and talk about the day comparing different experiences. With all this being said, what really makes the resort great are Marsh and Auggie. Until you spend some time at the resort, it’s hard to comprehend the amount of time, energy, and effort that goes into operating such a successful surf resort in such a remote part of the country. They work tirelessly to make sure their guests are taken care of. With constant coordinating, they are masters at what they do. You will feel like you are with the Mayors of Salinas. They are both great guys and fun to be around. They have a lot of local knowledge and are happy to pass it along. We also wanted to thank Landon as well for everything he did to help us out on our trip. We would highly recommend a stay at Two Brothers – thank you! And, although their horse maybe 30+ years old, he has the ability to quickly and magically appear in areas you didn’t think possible.

Truly Jewel of the Popoyo, Nicaragua area

This stunning resort is hands down THE finest in the Tola/Rivas area. The architecture is well layed out with terraced villas creating privacy yet immediate access to the pool, dining, sky bar and events center. The grounds are immaculately manicured, colorful and a delightful compliment to the aforementioned amenities. As to the rooms/villas, they consist of thoughtfully decorated furniture and earthtones that compliment the exterior landscape. Intelligently located at a hilltop elevation, there is a constant breeze which keeps things cool on the outside and to my amazement, very few bugs for this part of the world. The dining and culinary experience is amongst the best I have experienced in Central America. Coffee is on early AM for quick starts to fun filled days. The massage center services were a welcome relief after long days in the sun. After an afternoon siesta, yoga sessions topped off the days activities. This resort is located in the Popoyo area with world class surf & beaches a short distance away. Access via boat rides to world class beaches/breaks OR via vehicular transportation makes each day a different adventure to be experienced. Access to this part of the Central America is either Managua OR thru Liberia, Costa Rica. Airport transfers are a breeze from single to 12 person groups. During rainy season, the hilltop location offers spectacular viewing of distant lighting storms. The local people were humble, friendly and a pleasure to interact with. I travel quite a bit to Costa Rica, Mainland Mexico and Cuba but always find myself going back to Nicaragua.

Amazing Experience!!! Will be hard to beat

Right from my initial enquiry the service and attention to detail was on another level. I flew into Costa Rica and Tara organised a seamless door to door transfer for me complete with a step by step guide to crossing the border. On arrival you immediately feel right at home and nothing is too much trouble for Trevor and Tara or their staff. The choice of breaks that GFS can take you too via their boat or one of their trucks is a huge plus if you want to make the most of surfing in Nicaragua. You want to surf early? No problem. You want to go out in the boat to the furthest away spot on consecutive days? No problem. You want to surf with people of a similar ability and have a top notch surf guide? They have you covered. Lots of surfing requires plenty of good food and again they have this off to an art. From a hearty breakfast to burritos on the boat to steak night in the evening you will be very well fed. Not to mention the deserts! OMG! Tara and Trevor have created a winning formula through lots of hard work, a limitless supply of smiles and positive attitudes. They have surrounded themselves with a great team and I think that my trip to GFS will be very hard to beat.

Our seaside hideaway is just a stones throw from one of Nicaragua's finest beaches, Playa Santana - where our nearest neighbors are grazing cows and howling monkeys. Accommodation, and most of all, BUENA ONDA (good vibrations) morning, noon and night. This was our 2nd stay at Buena Onda. A surfers paradise with the best valued surf packages and guide your money can buy. The added palapa, hanging hammocks and outdoor dining area were a perfect addition to this already beautiful space. The on- site restaurant is such a plus, I couldn’t imagine staying somewhere that did not provide this service, not to mention the extremely affordable and AMAZING food. I believe we had lobster about 4-5 nights. The rooms are very comfortable & you can choose from a variety of rooms to fit your needs or budget. The pool was always clean, the grounds manicured, and the entire staff so friendly & attentive. I would only suggest that any 1st time visitors to Nicaragua, familiarize yourself with the Nicaraguan culture before visiting, & remember that even in all of its beauty, this is not Disney World, it is still a 3rd World Country. We always felt very safe, despite the local passing farm animals from time to time. The bilingual American managers Paul & Cameron, made myself, a non-Spanish speaking guest, feel very comfortable & looked after during our entire stay. We took a trip shopping at the outdoor markets in Granada, & a “must do” guided boat tour on Lake Nicaragua, and Cameron was super helpful as our guide and had our best interest at heart. We just love Buena Onda and look forward to our next trip.
