The 9 Best Things to do Good for Adrenaline Seekers in Plettenberg Bay, Western Cape

October 25, 2021 Carley Gatson

The caves of Plettenberg Bay are wrinkles in time, lined with ancient artifacts that date to the Middle Stone Age. Under the sun, Robberg, Central and Lookout beaches are pristine stretches of white sand, magnets for tourists, seagulls and dolphins, who bob playfully just off shore. Wildlife lovers will delight at the Birds of Eden aviary and Monkeyland. (How can you not have fun in a place called Monkeyland?)

Yesterday my adult children snd I went on a dolphin cruise at 9:30. Marlin was our tour leader. He was welcoming and knowledgeable and experienced. The sea was flat and the boat was strong. Soon after we set off we were surrounded by humpback dolphins. It was quite an incredible experience. Then Marlin told us that he received a message that a rarer dolphin species called common dolphins were spotted nearby. We found them and soon hundreds surrounded our boat. We could not get enough of these wonderful animals with their slick bodies diving sliding and swooping through the clear sea water. Before we returned we also went past hundreds of seals moaning and groaning on the Robberg rocks. It was a unforgettable experience that I can highly recommend

Harkerville Mountain Bike Trails

Now one of my favourite short(ish) mountain bike trails - 24kms. You start in the beautiful natural forest and are quickly onto a sublime single track. Not too technical although there are some knarly roots to catch you out if your attention wanders. Then onto a jeep track before getting onto a concrete single track which takes you straight down to the cliffs overlooking the sea. A steep climb on loose rocks and then undulations on a jeep track before the trail goes back into the natural forest and onto a fairly technical single track before you return to the start. Best done with a fellow rider!
