Inexpensive Hotel in Hai Phong
Reviewed By telcom3Clean inexpensive Hotel, paid 400,000 VND for 1 night. $18USD. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Reception assisted me to get taxi to Cat Ba Island. The room was quit and comfortable, the AC worked fine.

The plus.... it's neat the bus station
Reviewed By danifitz14Only booked in for one night, and thank god that was it. Not convinced the bedding had been changed from the guests before us. There were 'special hairs' in bed and all over the bathroom. The whole room was dusty and gross. We faced into the main road which was really noisy. And the beds!!!! I know all the reviews have mentioned them, but my god! It was like sleeping on a tiled floor! We lifted the 'mattress' up to see what it was made of and found old underpants and socks under it. I came to the conclusion it was just wood. SO GROSS! AVOID!

What is that smell?!
Reviewed By 794elstoncStaff is friendly and helpful but dear god what is that smell?! It’s like stale cigarettes and dirty socks. They say there is no smoking but the room has an ashtray and matches soooo. The bathtub leaked everywhere and ran out of warm water within five minutes.

The worst place ever
Reviewed By stylianosd2015I visited the hotel on January 22. Was quarantine facility. Is the worst experience ever had . Mould on the walls bathroom in almost demolition with cracked tiles. Dirty room. When entered i found personal items from the last guest-(s) Shower water Boiler was 25ltrs . As result was not able to have a proper shower . Shower was blocked as result had to remove the racket in order to establish a good flow of Shower water. No heating element in the room even with amb temperature in 16 degree of Celsius. Finally a lizard entered in my room. Not proper sleep for several nights due to the pet lizard. Tv was not operational. Stay away !!!

Conveniently between Ferry and Rail Station.......
Reviewed By Hawkus61Overnight stopover only between CatBa Island and Hanoi....arrived via fast ferry at Ben Binh Pier...from there about a kilometre to the hotel....hotel listed as "Khach San New Wind" in Google Maps. Chose to walk. The area that we saw of Hai Phong between Ben Binh Pier and the Rail Station was pleasant to walk around relative to other major Vietnam cities....tree-lined wide footpaths not too cluttered with scooters and other obstacles, lots of interesting shop-fronts and street-side activities happening (as is throughout Vietnam) The hotel has an attractive, clean tree-lined frontage on a quiet street....reception English ability basic but enough...however the street-front room highlighted the exceptional value of this hotel (approx $40 AUD)....high ceilinged, spacious room with rich, timber furniture, plus well-appointed, big bathroom, all very new and clean. Probably recently renovated, which would explain dual naming (both names displayed at hotel). WiFi worked ok, as did standard FTA Vietnam TV with 2 or 3 English Movie Channels Basic breakfast available, the Maxims version of omelette is 2 fried eggs, sunny side up.....about another kilometre walk to the rail station in the morning...this route took us over a linear park, where more interesting Viet recreation activities occurring........
