We had 2 nights in the Amazon at Amazona Posadas. We packed in a lot to very little time. The lodge was beautiful and very comfortable, food was excellent. Our guide was very good but seemed a bit disinterested at times. Very knowledgeable. We then went to Cusco, had a walking tour and cooking class. Our new guide, Albero was excellent. Our cooking class with Jesus was fun, very accommodating. We then moved on to the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu. Highly recommend the hike at MP Mountain. Our guide was very supportive and patient! Next we then went to the Rainbow Mountain. Unfortunately, though I requested we NOT go to Vinicunca, that is where we were taken. It was very beautiful, but very crowded. I did not understand why we did not go to Palcoyo. Was told later it was not accessible due to landslides. This may have been the case, but was unhappy about the lack of transparency prior to embarking. Overall, we were very happy with our experience and grateful to have completed it before the travel restrictions were set in place for the COVID pandemic.

It is an easily accessible walk for everyone, without limitations or necessary permits (at least for the moment) next to the city of Mollepata, Cusco with Machu Picchu, Salkantay Trek are ancient treasures and outside the traditional route located in the same area, like the Inca Trail, where you can see large icy mountains covered with snow that combine with the abundant rainforest. The name of this mountain of Salkantay Trek is a contraction that comes from Salqa which means sullen, wild and Antay that means producing eyebrows or avalanches; This is an alternate route to the usual Inca Trail for those who did not get to get spaces, we have considered this route of Salkantay Trek as one of the best alternatives since in all this journey we can appreciate the flora and fauna and the tranquility that one needs to to be able to reflect and be in touch with the nature that surrounds us.

I highly recommend Machu Picchu Inca Trekking when planning a trek on the Inca Trail and for visiting Cusco. Our guide and coordinator, Eric Alexander Castro Olivera, was fantastic. You really need somebody to plan for you as doing a trek requires purchasing permits for the trail, transportation to and from the train station, purchasing train and bus tickets, as well as coordinating city tours. Patient and reliable, Eric escorted us through the ancient Inca ruins explaining history and legends. It was very fascinating to hear him speak and it was all from the heart.

To be honest, it was my worst trip in Peru, but it was not fault of the organizers. In fact they did their best for me to have enough time on Machu Picchu. Unfortunately, buses to the mountain are overloaded after 9am, and from the mountain in the afternoon. I recommend to spend night in Aguas Calientes and go to Machu Picchu early in the morning.

I Do not recommend this company I did a pre-planned day trip of Argentina. It was arranged they pick me up from nearby hotel. I msg to confirm and they changed the plans and I had to meet there which wasn’t Easy to find. I attempted many times to contact them via the phone numbers they provided and concierge also attempted, but they never responded. Then I only got half the tour. Try other more reliable and reputable companies.
