October 6, 2017 Lean Nau

Stade (German pronunciation: [ˈʃtaːdə]) is a city in Lower Saxony in northern Germany. First mentioned in records in 934, it is the seat of the district (Landkreis) which bears its name. It is located roughly 45km to the west of Hamburg and belongs to that city's wider metropolitan region. Within the area of the city are the urban districts of Bützfleth, Hagen, Haddorf and Wiepenkathen, each of which have a council ("Ortsrat") of their own with some autonomous decision-making rights.

Museum Schwedenspeicher

Worth a visit for few rainy hours. Museum has on three floors quite a few exibits on the regional history and development. Interesting that they display the exibits they have found in the historic harbour just outside the door.
Check on special exihibitions they have from time to time. Some areas are specially for children (videos, sailship loading and transport, ancient tents and some drilling tooling to try out and explore).
Unfortunately no English language explanations.
Additional hint: After having done your cultural duties you are entiteled to some great coffee and cake, e.g. in the "Goebencafe" just a few steps away at the historic harbour.

St. Cosmae Kirche

Entering this small church felt warm and welcoming. Apparently it was built in 13th century. There was a lovely feel to the place which is beautifully cared for. Some attractive features including a 1633 1683 chandelier British ship. The church is named after Syrian twins Ss Cosmae and Damiani who lived in third century and died as martyrs. The Christian doctors had given treatment free of charge.

I felt very free at this museum. There were no ropes or glass panes cordoning off certain areas and I was clad they trusted us with this old farmhouse and it's contents. The only improvement I would like is to place little info cards around the farm so that people know exactly what everything was and how it was used. I loved the scene outside of the farmhouse and it was very peaceful. With gentle water running and the sun streaming through the luscious green trees I wanted to live on that farm for a few days
