Knockillaree Riding Centre

Based in Oughterard, Co. Galway – only 25 minutes north of Galway City at the “Gateway to Connemara”. Our Centre is located on the Rusheeny road, just outside the town of Oughterard, and is nestled between beautiful hills, mountains and the shores of Lough Corrib. We offer a full range of services including trekking, lessons, showjumping leagues, pony camps, breaking and training, livery and stud. For those interested in the native Connemara Pony, our yard has a large selection of Connemara ponies with champion showing, ridden and showjumping stallions at stud and the opportunity to hear about the history and development of this versatile pony from the yards owner, Roger Joyce. Roger is from a long line of Connemara breeders and stallion custodians. He is also an experienced horse and rider trainer and an international Connemara Pony Judge.

Learn To Shoot or Improve Your Skills at Shotgun Shooting or Rifle and Air Rifle. Whether an absolute beginner or an experienced shot, we've been teaching clients for many years. It is important to stress that we have a broad range of firearms, some which are very light with minimum recoil and highly suitable for ladies or young persons to shoot safely with. Shane was originally trained by Holland & Holland of London and Werner is an ex Bisley Coach. We can supply you with all necessary equipment and can teach individuals or small groups. We are Government Approved by the Garda Siochana and fully insured. Shane also trains in Safety Courses necessary for first time applicants for Shotgun and Rifle Licences.

Just had a great morning with Shane. He is a true professional, he analyses deconstructs and explains the process in the simplest way to allow the shooting process to become so natural. He even thought us some communication skills ! This is well worth doing.

Killary Adventure Company was founded in 1981 and has grown to become Ireland's premier adventure company offering excitement, fun, quality accommodation and activities.
