You will find the extensive array of antiques and memorabilia fascinating and all are displayed in a picturesque setting in an old property in the heart of the town. If you are looking for militaria, vintage toys, china and silverware, vintage clothing and everything in between, you won’t be disappointed. Children will be fascinated by the various items, many of which they will only have read about. There is plenty of on-site parking and card facilities are available if you find something you simply must have. Set aside a couple of hours to enjoy the setting and indulge in a cup of coffee or play the vintage pin ball machines.

We stumbled upon this shop on our visit to Hermanus, and it turned out to be the highlight of our trip. Its like stepping into the past, with rooms dedicated to various themes such a military memorabilia, victorian clothing, vintage toys and tea sets and so much more. We ended up spending nearly two hours there, finishing up with a few games of old fashioned pin ball machine which was such fun. Do yourself a favour, stop by for a visit when you are in the area, you won't be dissapointed.

My partner and I decided on a spontaneous road trip with our 4 year old son yesterday and we ended up at the Faerie and Angel sanctuary. What a delight. Its magical place that leaves you feeling like you have escaped reality of life for a while. Beauty and peace. Our son cried when we had to leave... I felt the same way. I was obsessed with the mosaics some of which are a work in progress but the true joy is the faeries, mystics, pixies and angels. Some in plain sight and others not so much. Worth the visit even if you aren't a believer. We will be back.

We're a fairly new creative team, creating Funky African Doodle design characters and printing them on fabric, bringing South African wildlife to happy travellers in functional accessories from handbags, change purses, textiles and mugs. Providing creative work in our small cheerful Barrydale design factory.

From May - August the whole of Swellendam becomes a Winter School. A school for adults though it is family friendly as well. The School was created to attract visitors to the Town during the quiet Winter months. We aim to fill the accommodation establishments and restaurants. The Winter School has over 50 courses, mind & body, food & wine, creative arts, nature & heritage and yoga retreats.
