The 8 best Bed and Breakfast Inns in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Caribbean

April 23, 2023 Alice Mieles

There are 32 islands and cays that make up St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG). Nine are inhabited, including the mainland St. Vincent and the Grenadines islands: Young Island, Bequia, Mustique, Canouan, Union Island, Mayreau, Petit St Vincent and Palm Island. The stunning Tobago Cays National Marine Park is also located within SVG. This multi-island Caribbean nation offers a combination of rainforest eco-adventures, scuba diving, classic Caribbean powder-white sand beaches, luxury accommodation and yachting or sailing adventures.

Sugarapple Inn

The duplex-style beach cottage is located right on tranquil Friendship Bay Beach. The lush garden that houses the Sugarapple Inn's pool and verandah is a short walk away, and guests of the beach cottage are welcome to walk over and enjoy. Bustling Port Elizabeth is only a few minutes' drive via the "dollar van" route, where other Grenadine adventures are easily accessible.

Sugarapple On The Beach is a tranquil haven

Reviewed By rebeccahC9524FN

I have just spent 11 days at Sugarapple On The Beach. The pictures are so accurate of a wonderful, tranquil haven on the island of Bequia. Cilla and her staff were really friendly and helpful and looked after us brilliantly. Using the Dollar buses that stop at the top of the road by the Inn, it's so easy to get into Port Elizabeth, Princess Margaret Beach and Lower Bay. Cilla organised for us to take a water taxi to Mustique for lunch at Basil's bar and we did a day trip on the Friendship Rose to Tobago Cays to swim with turtles. I wanted a cottage on the beach with sun and azure blue seas and Sugarapple On The Beach ticked all the boxes.

Lovely little gem

Originally had booked just a day room to use after ferry ride from Bequia before a flight. But because of airline problems it turned into a 3 night stay. The room was comfortable, clean and nicely decorated. The staff was friendly and helpful. Food was very good and priced well. While not on the beach, there are oceans views. The area is quiet and close to Argyle International Airport with a small grocery a short walk away. I would definitely stay here again

Fabulous

We stayed in a beach front villa for 9 days and it was fabulous from day one! The location is perfect, the room very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Lovely beach front restaurant. Snorkeling every morning before breakfast seeing turtles, lobsters, octopus, moray eel and lots of reef fish. Lovely staff. Lots of nice bars and restaurants near-by. We are a very well travelled couple and this us one of the nicest places we have ever visited!

Lovely little island Getaway

We took the Jayden sun fast ferry from Bequia to Union island (highly recommended) fast ferry cost EC$100 each. Stopping off at Canuoan & Mayreau journey time 2 hours. Sandra the owner arranged for a taxi to meet us & a lovely home cooked supper was prepared by Holly the Chef. Rooms are clean , spacious & comfortable. A small fridge inc. Some of the family rooms have kitchens. We had a large terrace facing the beach. Beach outside hotel is pretty and natural. A short walk away is Big Sand Beach with Jack Sparrows Restaurant & Bar, with lots of sun beds. You can walk into The nearby town of Clifton. If you are feeling energetic a steep walk up to The Old Fort Hill is rewarded with beautiful views of the Islands.

Not a 5 star by a long stretch yet

The view from the pool, the ambience and staff in general are fantastic. It’s definitely a lovely location and the restaurant at the bottom of the hotel serves excellent food with excellent service. Cocktails generally are fab - I was blown away the first couple of times we came to this place and then after spending over EC$2.5k later unfortunately it went downhill. We waited over an hour for our dinner tonight, a hotdog with chips cooked in old oil, prawns so tough you could play cricket with them to mention a few. After multiple mumbled apologies from various managers and the chef blaming it on being busy we left with less of a positive opinion of a so-called 5 star hotel and we were charged for the pleasure of waiting for bad food and service. I have been to many 5 star hotels and never had to pay for bad food and service. Is this the new normal for St.Vincent The bill is not cheap - if you want to roll with the likes of 5 star service of The Grovesner or The Langham hotels in London or Calabash in Grenada you need to fix this fast! I expect first class service and a proper apology. Don’t blame your kitchen, manage your staff properly, get enough staff - sort it out! Shame man! Seriously!

Perfect location

We have visited Bequia so many times and never had the opportunity to stay here. We arranged with another couple to stay for a 2 night stay and we were so very pleasantly surprised. The apartment was immaculately clean and very comfortable. Whilst a little dated in parts it really provided all of our needs with a lot of space. The verandah watching the boats up and down was just perfectly positioned. We enjoyed walking to nearby eateries and other hotels for breakfast, lunch or dinner. We were within walking distance of a spectacular beach and really had a lovely time. Staff were super friendly and helpful with all our needs. We will definitely make this our go to on our future visits to this beautiful island.

Horrible Management!

I wouldn't advise any one to stay here unless you to want to be verbally abuse by Iwona. When you complain about service .My day started by getting a late breakfast that had sloppy presentation and taste less! Nice cozy resort but only two workers and a maintence guy who is working like a slave. The poor guy is doing the maintenance and still serving us dinner in the night in the same dirty clothing, my partner and I was so disgust. Antonio the manager seems to be the chef as well and his girlfriend Iwona the bartender. For dinner drinks are served late, cocktails are poor quality and the food is just horrible. I can't give them a proper review. We did had a good hike up the forest, the view was beautiful such a nice place but poor management ,clearly needs more staff!!!
