The 7 Best Things to do Good for a Rainy Day in St. Moritz, Swiss Alps

February 22, 2022 Layne Dawes

Although originally known as a summer destination, when the first snowflakes land in St. Moritz, so do the international scenesters, bundled up in the latest "Must Have" accessories. During winter, catch a ride on the Glacier Express from Zermatt to arrive in style. Cable cars ascend to three nearby mountaintops. Hundreds of miles of ski trails and a frozen lake comprise the area's most popular sports venues. Follow the Romans example and try one of the city's mineral springs, such as St. Moritz Bader.

Engadine Museum

The Museum of Engadine Culture was built in 1906, on the initiative of Riet Campell, a passionate collector. It looks at first glance like an age-old Engadine house. The outside has all the typical features: the sgraffito-style door and window frames, the Romansh inscriptions, and the traditional oriel window. In fact, the house is little more than a hundred years old and was constructed as museum by the famous architect Nicolaus Hartmann Junior of St. Moritz. The panelled living rooms, or stüvas as they are known locally, have come from farmhouses and village houses in the Engadine and surrounding valleys. They give you a wonderful insight into the lifestyles of affluent local families over the last five centuries.

Pavarotti & Friends

It is an absolute must visit in St. Moritz! super friendly place with an unforgettable atmosphere like at the big Italian party with loud Italian music and candle lights. It feels like you know everyone at the end of the evening and the food prepared for you by an Italian Mama is amazing. it’s a wine bar, so you will be impressed by the list of excellent wines. We tried Bresaola carpaccio for starters, Homemade pasta with black truffle and the deer with polenta for main dish and everything was absolutely delicious. The tiramisu della Mama was perfectly flavored and melting in my mouth. Also very friendly staff. So I would highly recommend to try this place out. I really enjoyed the evening very much!
