Natal Shark Board

This is a world leading research facility that on certain days is open to the public. However it should be remembered that essentially The KZN Sharks Board is a working marine research facility that specializes in shark research and the safety of the marine ecology. I doubt that there is anywhere else like this in the world and is certainly worth a visit to see what amazing work these people undertake to safeguard both the sharks and the people who venture into the water.

Phezulu Safari Park

Situated in Botha's hill the game reserve provided a different type of experience from any other safaris I had been to. The pathways were steep, narrow and not man-made, giving the traveller a completely different "touch". We came across impalas, nyalas, zebras and giraffes. There is a curio shop with amazing hand-made Zulu crafts and close by a restaurant which provides magnificent views over the valley.

Maintained bins & some even have water taps. Well maintained pathway for those with mobility challenges, with braai facilities on this route as well. Lots of cycle & walking tracks. Zebra & Buck are friendly & roam freely between the tracks & picnic spots. Some note maintenance issues, but it is a nature reserve, not a curated garden!
