Very clean and comfortable with a great value breakfast that set them up for their hiking. Very helpful friendly hosts . My Auckland city based son said he felt like he was in a different country, so peaceful and beautiful,

Overlooking the Marina & Game Fishing Club Whangaroa is an ideal base for exploring the Far North. Enjoy Whangaroa with its relaxing atmosphere, rich in charm & early New Zealand history. Units are fully self-contained and equipped with TV, DVD player and kitchen facilities such as fridge, microwave and hotplates. All units have decks with outdoor furniture, and stunning views of the Whangaroa Harbour. There is a range of combinations from studio units sleeping just two people to a one or two bedroom units sleeping 3 to 5 people. Continental breakfast is available, and there is a resturant available at the Gamefish club and also the Marlin Hotel at the bottom of our drive. We are a group of 15 people and what really is the most convenient amenity .... is the huge community kitchen and dinning/BBQ area....all under cover, with a 55" flat screen television on the wall. But the real "stars" of this establishment are the owners JUDY & CRAIG. These guys are unbelievable in their service to make all their guests so welcome and part of the family. They go way beyond any normal standards for 5 star service...... for instance...insisting on cooking a roast meal for us all........ doing all our laundry......attending to minor medical needs.....unbelievable !!!! We will be back .....

Reviewed By Robson575Outrageously noisy on two of the three nights with two separate party’s going on within the accommodation. This is NOT suitable for young families. One party was highly inappropriate for accommodation of this type. Maybe this was just bad timing for us but I can’t help but feel this could have been managed better. To make matters much worse one of the hosts (Dennis) strangely became increasingly hostile on the second night. May, his wife on the other hand is lovely. So if you want to get no sleep and have a side of verbal abuse this is a great place to stay. Otherwise Avoid!

Paradise!!
Reviewed By LivSchilAs soon as you enter Whangaroa Harbour you enter Paradise. The colours of the bay make you feel like being on a tropical island. Lisa and her pets are incredibly friendly and welcoming. The whole accomodation is very clean and tasteful. We loved having all our meals out on the amazing deck, hearing the birds and cicada’s from the bush and looking out on the ocean. Such a special and peaceful place! How amazing having Lisa’s partner Scott providing excellent fishing trips almost at the doorstep of the accomodation! He is going out of his way for all his clients every time we have gone out on his boat! Lisa and Scott made us feel like family and we cannot think of a better spot for spending active family holidays. Incredible beaches are close by, bring the surfboards and snorkling gear along! Thank you so much Lisa and Scott, we’ll be back soon again.??????

Unpleasant stay in stifling hot chalet
Reviewed By Iseult057We arrived in a hot sunny week. This property had been closed all week and had heated up to sauna level. The ancient cooling fan provided in the main bedroom was not up to the job and was very loud and inefficient. This led to poor sleep in unbearably hot bedrooms and an unusable sitting room. The owner needs to care more about the comfort of guests than charging an exorbitant rental for a 'luxury' property. Avoid this rental.
