Simple and nice with a lot of birds flying aroud

HE GOOD: - Very close to "downtown" - Great Breakfast (Crape with chocolate sauce, various fruits, bread, butter, jam, coffee and juice) in a beautiful terrace where lots of birds are flying around - Clean - Affordable - Big rooms - They have some tours to offer - Filtered water in the first floor - Great service THE BAD - There were a couple of nightclubs very close by, so it was a bit noisy at night - The shower was kind of bad - No nightstand light - VERY simple rooms. I don't mind it, but it might discourage older folks like me. VERDICT Great for the price, I would stay there again.

Quiet, conveniently-located, gorgeous grounds, eco-friendly!
Reviewed By Kate SThis beautiful inn is located on a quiet street within a 2 minute walk of the center of town. There is a path on the grounds that takes you down to a stream that runs behind it where you can see tree frogs at night. TONS of hummingbirds drinking from the plants and the feeder out by the outdoor restaurant area. We had the whole place to ourselves, the manager, and his little sweet dog, Poncha. Great internet! Containers for recycling out back. Online downside was that the water doesn't stay cold long in the shower, but other than that, no complaints and only lots of thankfulness for a wonderful stay! PS we were going to rent a car at the quito airport and drive ourselves, but, after difficulty with the rental company and pricing a driver, we got a taxi at the airport and he took us to mindo for so much cheaper (and we easily found a driver to take us back to quito 3 days later). I felt much safer with people who know the roads and are used to the altitude over my family driving ourselves. Our taxi driver from quito to mindo was Carlos Calupina and his number is 0958999543. I wish I knew our other driver, from Mindo to Quitos number, because his car was high end and he was exceptionally focused and played great jazz music during our trip, but if you ask the manager at eco lodge, he'll probably be able to give you that second driver's name too.

Located nearby the river, Mindo Real is a peaceful guesthouse in a superb setting, with abundant flowers and trees which attract numerous local birds and butterflies. An 8-minute walk from town, Mindo Real is far enough away to enjoy the sights and sounds of nature while close enough to stock up on supplies or pick up a few souvenirs if desired. We have private rooms, cabanas, and a camping area right beside the river for those who have their own tents. Every room has its own bathroom and cable television, and a swimming pool is available for client use. Breakfast is included with all room and cabana rentals, and is available for an extra cost for campers. The camping area includes shower and bathroom facilities, running water, lights, and a pavilion area with picnic tables. Free wifi is available in the restaurant and main guesthouse areas.

Reviewed By Gerhard7Set in fantastically lush 2 hectare garden only 700 meters from town. Originally we were only going to spend two nights here but ended up staying six. We got a warm reception from Maria the owners daughter. She showed us a couple of rooms so we could decide. Staff in general very friendly and super helpful. The family is one of the oldest and original settlers in the area. Lovely views of the gardens and the pool from our window and outside balcony alongside. The room is clean and bright, hot water aplenty in en-suite shower. Little table, hanging space and shelving unit to put cases/stuff. The room was cleaned every day and fresh towels were provided. Breakfast was delicious, fresh fruit, eggs however you want them, some crispy coated potato with cheese filling thingy, juice and fantastic coffee, bread and various jams - I'm stuffed. Highly recommended

Great place for bird photography. Delightful place to visit
Reviewed By Richard FThis lodge is very well thought out for bird photography and birding. Blinds are well conceived and their property is well constructed. There was ample room to setup a hummingbird flash setup and the water hide is excellent. We only had two nights at the Birdwatcher's house, I wish we had a third. The food was excellent but unfortunately was rather heavy in the starch area (potatoes, rice, ..). I had asked for a low carb meals but could not get it (more meat and veggies, less potatoes and rice). It would have been nice if the lodge had worked with me on this. This is the only reason I did not give it 5 stars

All of our shared rooms have privacy curtains on the bunks and personal lamps and electrical sockets.

Reviewed By j2dcThis review is long over due!! Myself and my girlfriend stayed here for 3 nights during our time in Mindo. We were very tempted to stay for another night just because we enjoyed our stay in cinnamon house so much. The atmosphere was really pleasant here with all fellow travellers chilling out in the lounge area chatting and getting to know one another in the evenings. I was most happy when I realised that they had an ez bar with a good weight on it allowing me to do a quick workout. A special mention to the receptionists Isabella and Sonia who were most welcoming, pleasant, and helpful throughout our stay. Our room was comfortable and spacious and we just had a lovely stay here. It’s up there with one of the nicest places we have stayed (definitely in Ecuador) in during our time traveling South America.

Reviewed By Angela MThe house is a romantic wood farmhouse. Maria was taking care about me very well. There is a kitchen to use and everything is clean and in good conditions. When I was there there were no other tourists so it was like its name says very quiet.

Perfect for minimalist travelling
Reviewed By TifffromABRooms are quaint and there is a very artsy vibe to the whole place. Priced well. We loved the upper floor for sitting and watching the hummingbirds. The staff are helpful and kind. Good for families with kids.
