The Merrythought Teddy Bear Shop

This unique shop is home to a huge range of traditional and limited edition teddy bears. All of the current collections are in stock as well as several rare discontinued items and shop exclusives. Within the shop is a small museum with some of the earliest Merrythought and Farnell teddy bears (dating back as far as 1909) as well as many other characters created by Merrythought over the years. Of course, all of the bears have been handmade onsite in the Merrythought factory, the UK's oldest teddy bear manufacturer of it's kind. Open 7 days a week 10am - 5pm

Maws Craft Centre

The Maws Craft Centre and Maws Creative Spaces are a collection of art, craft and design studios situated in the picturesque Ironbridge Gorge, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, 1.5 miles from the historic Iron Bridge. Housed in the refurbished Victorian tile factory of Maw & Co, once the world's largest tile manufacturer. The building now comprises independently run studios - a mix of artists, designers & makers, galleries, a holistic therapist, the Tile Press café, a craft supplies shop, the Gorge Parish Council office, IT consultants and media companies. The Maws courtyard is used to host events including open air concerts, World Heritage Site events and outdoor art exhibitions. The centre courtyard is open to walk through 7 days a week but individual shop & studio opening times vary. Usually a selection of them can be found open most days. To visit a particular artist please check with them before travelling any distance. Contact details are on our website.

Just spent another happy hour or so browsing the excellent little shops at Maws craft centre near Ironbridge. This place has really raised it’s game in recent years and the mix of beautiful products for sale along with the extremely kind, friendly and knowledgeable artisans who create them makes for a truly peaceful and really enjoyable shopping experience. I absolutely love spending time in Loam the plant shop - the enthusiasm from The owner and her knowledge of plants is unrivalled and I’ve become totally hooked on indoor plants thanks to her. Mist has beautiful individual pieces of handcrafted jewellery by the very talented silversmith and I’m slowly building up a lovely individual collection of unique pieces from this very special shop. Our home is constantly filled with the gorgeous scent of lemongrass and ginger candles from the fabulous Ironbridge candle making company who even offer a refill service as well as delicious body lotions and beautiful items for the home. I won’t buy my handmade soaps from anywhere other than Pink Moon creations now as the scent stays all the way to the end of the bar and it doesn't turn into a slimey mush as I’ve found with other soaps...the lemon one is gorgeous, I love it! The bath products from Dona Elementis are also well worth a try. The sleepy night time oil in the bath is so soothing and relaxing you won’t want to get out! To top it all is the fab Tile Press cafe which sells delicious coffee, cakes and savoury items, many of which are gluten free. Just what’s needed before or after one of the many gentle walks which can be started from Maws. It’s definitely our ‘go to’ place to find peace, good food, wonderful friendly customer services and top quality items. Well worth a visit.
