Als wesentlicher Bestandteil der Gesamtanlage Burg & Schloss Allstedt, eine im Mittelalter bedeutende Pfalz in Mitteldeutschland, wurde die Vorburg um 1746 auf historischem Grund mit mehr als 1200-jähriger Geschichte errichtet, doch aufgrund des plötzlichen Todes seines Bauherrn Ernst August I. von Sachsen-Weimar-Eisenach nur in schlichter Form umgesetzt. Nach 270 Jahren, nun in Familienbesitz, naht die Vollendung und Zuführung der Vorburg zu ihrer ursprünglich angedachten Bestimmung. Es wird spannend und altehrwürdig… Was passiert auf der Vorburg von Burg & Schloss Allstedt? Bestehendes zieht ein, Neues ist in Planung und kommt hinzu. Hier teilen wir unsere Gedanken, Pläne und Taten mit unseren neuen Nachbarn und anderen Neugierigen und bringen so hoffentlich etwas Licht ins Dunkel um das privat finanzierte Familienprojekt “Die Vorburg”. "The heart of the city". Very large plaza with statues of Martin Luther and his 'student & defender' Philipp Melanchton. Beautiful, old, buildings surround. And, like many European cities, they were preparing for their Christmas festival when we visited in mid-November. We often hear that one European city (or the other) is very pretty.....it seems to me that Wittenberg is not one of them that I have heard......however, to my eyes, this is one of the prettiest that I have visited.
