The 6 best Lodges in Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, Vietnam

June 12, 2023 Kaleigh Reichenbach

The karst formation of Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park has evolved since the Paleozoic (some 400 million years ago) and so is the oldest major karst area in Asia. Subject to massive tectonic changes, the park’s karst landscape is extremely complex with many geomorphic features of considerable significance. The vast area, extending to the border of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, contains spectacular formations including 65 kilometers of caves and underground rivers.

Enjoyed our stay

Reviewed By Bdawg-Ddawg

Stayed for two nights here and really enjoyed it! The rooms were basic but clean. Quynh was amazing! She was super helpful with recommendations on where to eat and helping us plan the best route to explore the national park! Breakfast was good and filling. The banana pancakes were a highlight! The only downside about our stay was that we had booked an overnight bus to ninh binh and mentioned that we were staying in ninh binh city and not tam coc. We didn’t realize takcoc was the more touristy area with things going on. Only about half an hour before our bus arrived we had found out the bus was only stopping in tam coc not ninh binh city. Normally this wouldn’t be a problem but with the bus arriving at 4am we had pre messaged our accommodation asking to check in early (at 4am) and it had been approved. So with half an hour to go before a night bus it didn’t give us an option to find some where else. We then had to take a taxi to our accom when we arrived obviously costing us more. Would have been nice if there was more clarification about the bus!

Relaxing and enjoyable stay

Originally we wanted to stay in Phong Nha for a couple of days after a bike tour from Da Nang ended here. We'll that turned out to be a Blessing. We checked out the options and the Gold Plus ticked the box's for us The room was large and had 2 Queen sized beds, double windows which we enjoyed a gental breeze all night. We did need mozzie spray but wantn't an issue but the location & the aspect of our room on the top floor was outstanding. A Beautiful breakfast each morning got us off to a good start each day. We hired a scooter from them also and the family run hotel was such a pleasurable experience we ended up staying 5 nights. ?? Thank you to the son who greeted us and speaks english

The best in Phong Nha!

Excellent stay, highly recommend. The rooms are homey and spacious and the views breathtaking! The location is also perfect for sightseeing and getting into town. Sy and his family were generous and incredibly accommodating during my stay in Phong Nha. They came to pick me up at 4 in the morning when there were no other busses running and saw me off to my next destination when the bus was an hour and a half late. I felt welcome and taken care of my entire stay and the hosts were always happy to assist when we had questions or needed help. I will definitely stay at Sy's Homestay again.

Bargain Price and Best Quality

I booked 3 nights at the Hang En Hotel. The price was a bargain and I normally set my standards lower when this is the case, but I was so wrong. After the night bus leaving Hanoi late and breaking down on route, I got to Phong Nha 2 hours later than I had originally said. I had emailed the hotel on route to inform them and they replied not to worry. When I eventually was dropped off at 6:30am, the hotel is only a straight 2 min walk. Once I got to the hotel, Mr Hai was waiting outside with open arms to welcome me. After a quick check in and an introduction to Mrs Hai, I was shown to my room. I was genuinely impressed. Massive room, super clean, double doors onto balcony which in turn looks onto the Phong Nha mountains, decent size en-suite that all looked pretty new. Good WiFi and air con. Shower was hot and good pressure. I’d say so for of my travel the best room and the best price. Mr and Mrs Hai who run the hotel are the most lovely couple. They are willing to go that extra mile to make you happy. I booked my day trip to Hang Tein Cave trip and my bus to Hué was all booked through the hotel. If I was to return to Phong Nha, the only place I would stay is the Hang En Hotel
