Enkelt, trevligt och absolut prisvärt

Reviewed By 138suzanner

Be very careful when booking this hotel through the Best Western portal !!

Reviewed By A_tourist_from_North

I booked a room at Nora Stadshotell via the Best Western booking portal. Something went wrong along the way in the process and I ended up with the Message "Hjem > Booking Path > Proxy" (in English: Home > Booking Path > Proxy"). I did never get any email confirmation or any confirmation number in the screen and therefore thought this booking had not been confirmed and was not valid. I therefore instead booked a room on another hotel in a nearby town. I was very surprised when I found out that the booking had still been valid in some way inside their own booking system and they therefore charged me the full amount of about 100 euro!! I had an email conversation with the hotel where I explained what had happened and they said they would send this booking problem to the Best Western booking portal for investigation. But then they still charged my card. So be VERY CAREFUL when booking the Nora Stadshotell through the Best Western portal if you get the proxy message. You are advised to call the hotel immediately to check if the booking is ok or not! Myself I will of course not stay at Nora Stadshotell in the future so they lost me as a (new) customer in the future!

Great location but too run-down.

Very run-down and in need of serious renovation. A bit expensive considering what you get. The location is great and the owner very nice. It is properly cleaned but still not so nice. Beds are train-bunk-beds so ofcourse a bit on the rough side.

Akerby Herrgard

Good value for money - interesting Cold War site

Reviewed By Skogsgurra

We needed a place for a small conference with some 15 participants and tried out the Akerby Manor with conference and hotel facilities. We are very glad that we did that. The place is quiet and situated in an interesting part of Sweden. There are lots of old iron works, mines and industrial history. A lot more than you can find in Germany or Great Britain where new indusries are built on the remnants of the old ones. And, if you are not interested in that kind of history, there is a very interesting Cold War history that is beeing revealed now as the archives are being opened to the public. The landlady told a very fascinating history about how "neutral" Sweden prepared for WWIII and with lots of interesting details like electrified fences in the middle of nowhere, secret underground halls, tunnels and much more. And, if you are not interested in such things - there's the lake, the sculpture park, foot-paths and rafting. The medieval city of Nora - Europa Nostra winner - with its famed market and wooden building is just a few miles away. Not that we needed all that. We were busy with our conference, but several of the participants seem to be planning a future visit with family or friends. OK. Conference quality. Quite good. All you need - even a 400 V three-phase supply was available for our demonstrations of variable speed drives - and excellent breakfast, lunch and dinner. Perfect conference service at a very reasonable cost. And, best of all, at least for the "city slickers" that are used to heavy parking costs: Parking is ample - and free. There was one little problem: The number of seats in the bar is limited. But there are solutions to that little problem also. Worked very well. We will have our future conferences at the Akerby Manor - that's for sure.
