Very Clean Rooms - Nice And Quiet After The Dog Stopped Howling!
Reviewed By WorldVoyagerWe were travelling to Ottawa for a hockey game and wanted to get a hotel/motel closer to Kanata where the Ottawa Senators play. There was nothing available in Kanata at all but we found this little motel on the side of Hwy 7 in a little town called Carleton Place, which we had never heard of before. I had made the reservations on other hotel booking website. I decided to spring the extra $ and get what was described as The Royal Suite, because it was twice as large as the other rooms (33m sq as opposed to 18m sq). When we arrived there was nobody in reception , but there was a sign saying to call for someone on a phone on the counter. I did and a woman appeared who was still in her house robe and said that she was just getting over the flu. I registered with her and she gave me the key to our Royal Suite. It was room #208. The room next to us had a dog that we never saw, but we sure did hear it as it barked and barked as we loaded our bags into the room and freshened up before heading out for dibber and to see the game. The room was very spartan but had everything we needed, The TV worked fine, there was a mini fridge and the heater was working fine, though it was very loud. The bathroom was very small and the light in it was very dim, my wife couldn't even use it to put her make-up on - she ended up opening the curtains and doing it on the window sill. We headed out later and when we came back I couldn't find the room key. It turned out we had left the room unlocked with the key inside but everything was safe and untouched!! I had a shower, my wife wanted to have a bath but there wasn't a plug for the drain. We settled in for a sleep and that's when the dog started howling. It was very loud and went on for about 40 minutes - luckily we were watching a Netflix movie, so by the time it was over the dog had stopped. It was a nice quiet sleep after that. The room was very clean except for what looked like salt stains off in one corner and the sheets, towels and blankets were very clean and sanitized. The room could've used some TLC as it looked like someone had punched one of the walls. The heater was very noisy and I had to unplug it so I could fall asleep but we could not hear the traffic from the road at all. When we left - we just had to drop off the ket at the front reception. Thats when I saw a big sign outside saying that they supported the Convoy 2022. I hadn't seen that before - it meant that they supported the rude, arrogant truckers that terrorized the citizens of Ottawa for a few weeks. If I had known that beforehand, we would have cancelled our reservations. Stay here if you're looking for a room under $100 and aren't too fussy about the decor. Hopefully the howling dog won't keep you awake either.

Reviewed By Explore468434The hotel is a charming building with friendly staff. We stayed two nights, one of them with no power whatsoever nor warm water. This was however not the hotel’s fault as a big storm hit southern Ontario leaving many in the same unfortunate situation. The Hotel managed everything greatly despite the circumstances. If you’re in the area, or travelling to Ottawa, it’s worth going a little out of your way to support this small business instead of staying with the big Hotel chains. You won’t be disappointed.

Reviewed By Danomac16Stayed dec 7&8 2019. Wife and I had a wedding in the area and this location was perfect for us. We were given an early check in at no extra cost which was a nice surprise. The owner was a very nice man and not only would I recommend this place to anyone/everyone, we will be back the next time we’re around. Thank you Malik and see you again. Big space, own kitchen, comfy bed, smart tv, free parking, clean and willing to please.
