Open from the 18th May on Tuesdays & Thursdays and the first Sunday of the Month from 10am - 4pm only. Our WW2 Hangar is, as it was, during WW2. Hangar 42 was a key Hangar at RAF Squires Gate, housing Hawker Hurricanes and Boulton Paul Defiants. Operated by Volunteers the exhibits include Mark II & IX Spitfire's and a Hawker Hurricane MKII as well as original and operational RAF airfield vehicles. Please note that this Visitor attraction is best suited to children 10 years or older. Entry fees are Adults £5.00 Children 10-16 £3.00, under 10's Free. Veterans and serving members of the Armed half price with ID Card. If you are interested in sitting in the cockpit of one of our Spitfire Aircraft, there is a fee of £5 for this on top of the entrance fee. Free Car park, NO PETS. Advance ticket sales only via www.ticketsource.co.uk until 21st June, whilst covid restrictions apply. H42 is Covid Secure, follow Social Media for new updates

I visited the railway station many years ago because of a love of the film Brief Encounter. I was stunned by how much work has been carried out since I last visited. As well as details of the stations restoration there is a cinema which shows Brief Encounter on a loop in a small replica cinema and there is also a very interesting homage to David Lean. The centre is run by very friendly committed volunteers and is a really great experience it’s free but donations are welcome. If you’re a bit of a film buff I’d throughly recommend this absolutely lovely heritage centre.

If you are visiting Lancaster for shopping or sightseeing, the city museum is worth a visit. The museum is right in the middle of the shopping area, so needs no special journeys to reach it and entry is free. The downstairs is split into two exhibition rooms and a receeption area. During my visit, one exhibition room was being used for a function of some kind and the other was exhibiting the landscape art of two Lancashire artists which was extremely good. A wide staircase equipped with a stair lift leads to the upstairs areas. The upstairs is split into two areas, the history of Lancaster from the stone age and the history of the Kings Own Royal Regiment from 1680. Both exhibitions are well laid out with exhibits and lots of detail.

Had a breathtaking and interesting private tour by my Uncle remarkable what these strong brave men do Lots of history hunky men and some lovely looking boats ???? well worth a vist on a rainy day or any other time for that matter
