Last Minute half term adventure

Reviewed By space-elf

I booked as a last minute surprise for the kids at the end of half term. The hotel was great. The room wasn't massive but it had plenty of room for a double and a single bed and a large bathroom. Both spotlessly clean, well maintained and modern decor. Kids loved the indoor pool. I loved that they could go in and I could just sit and watch them! The best thing about this hotel though are the staff. Welcoming and helpful front desk. Friendly housekeeping (who were doing an amazing job given that it was busy and they are very short-staffed) and lovely waiting staff in the restaurant. Like everyone else, a massive thank you to Louise. She looked after my son's dietary issue at short notice for dinner and checked on us in the morning too. And the chef who prepared food especially for him. I've stayed at many grander hotels where the staff are pleasant but uninterested but I'd much rather stay somewhere like the Doric where the staff make you feel genuinely welcome.

We turned up a day late for our 4 night stay only to find our room had been given away and no refund offered for the other nights this left my autistic daughter in floods of tears only to be met by the most heartless receptionist ever. Luckily we ended up staying at a fantastic B and B just up the road for half the price. We visit Blackpool 2/3 times a year we will never stay here again.

The waiter Kevin went above and beyond to get us what we needed when we needed, even gave us a laugh during dinner time. Rooms were immaculate and quite cosy the A/C unit was a life saver. Needs a little polish

We booked this hotel pre covid for a concert at The Grand Theatre, but due to a bit of a pandemic two year have passed, but the gig was rebooked so we stuck with our original choice. The hotel has rooms that overlook the pitch, but as I am not a football fan we decided on a standard room. We arrived early about three hours, but spoke to reception and we were allowed to park on the car park. Which was a great help, albeit there are loads of car parks nearby. When we checked in the lady on the desk was great. Very welcoming. The room price with breakfast for 2 was £85. Very reasonable. The room was spotlessly clean and smelt very fresh. I would say it needed a bit of polish and tarting up. The towel rail was loose on the wall, the wall near the bathroom had bare plaster and a crack on the edge. The shower gel dispenser was empty, I forgot ours so had to keep hopping out to use the one by the sink. Minor again but it’s attention to detail that dropped the rating. This didn’t detract from our stay. Bed was very comfy. Tea, coffee and and iron in the room. Main gripe and we did relate this on leaving. It was very noisy. There were a group of youngsters 10-12 year olds at a guess possibly using the venue for a football training camp. They all had football kit. They were running about till just before midnight. Expect a bit of noise in peak times. You can also hear noise between rooms. Take ear plugs if you are sensitive. Or drink more wine and sleep heavy. The breakfast was fantastic. Not sure how chef did the scrambled eggs but my missus said they were better than mine. Other than that value for money, location, breakfast and staff all very good. Sadly Blackpool needs a great deal of regeneration but the gig was awesome.

Lovely stay

Reviewed By Y8867SGjohna

My wife and I were in Blackpool for a show and chose to stay at the Imperial. The location is superb as it right on the seafront. Check in was welcoming, quick and efficient. We had a couple of issues with the room allocated and the Duty Manager (Jordan) dealt with the situation immediately and professionally so a big thank you to him. Breakfast was extremely enjoyable with a good selection of food. Very helpful staff and not rushed. A big thank you to all the staff! Every employee I encountered always had a smile on their face and went out of their way to help. I understand that the hotel is going through a refurbishment and I know it takes time. In all honesty I wouldn't have known if I hadn't been told. A big thank you to all and yes I would recommend the Imperial.

Excellent Stay

Excellent location, close to the centre and just across the road from the seafront. Clean, comfortable, well presented, good selection of drinks and great food but the best part of this hotel has to be its staff, all of whom are exceptional but afew who deserve a mention are, Tom, James & Harrison. We stayed on a family trip and everyone went over and above to help and make us feel welcome, especially as we had a member of family who had had an accident and needed assistance, they couldn’t do enough for us so thank you.
