Perrygrove Railway & Treetop Adventure

Perrygrove Railway runs for 3/4 mile through farmland and woods on the edge of the Forest of Dean. Ride the steam train to all our activities including the unique Treetop Adventure - 5 houses up in the trees, fully accessible and safe - our covered picnic and play area at Foxy Hollow, an Indoor Village with secret passages, and a den-building area in the woods. See our collection of vintage trains (operating on two special days each year). Unlock a casket of treasure! Fun guaranteed. Picnics welcome - or enjoy our cafe serving sandwiches and light refreshments. Lots of special events, including days when Mr. Chuffity is here to show children how the Friendly Engines work and tell stories. Low cost family tickets - nothing else to pay (except the optional Treasure Hunt).

We decided to visit Perrygrove as we were looking after our youngest grandchildren and wanted to take them on a railway experience. The children are quite young, aged 3 and 5 years and the experience catered for young children as well as their older siblings. We had a lovely time as the venue includes train rides, a cafe, gift shop, various exciting play areas, including a tree top adventure an indoor village and a treasure trail. The children were able to access all of the play areas. There were also areas where people could just sit and enjoy watching the train on its route.

Puzzlewood

Puzzlewood - A Magical Day Out in the Forest of Dean. Why is Puzzlewood magical? Is it the maze of pathways winding through deep gulleys of moss covered rocks, the twisted roots of the Yew trees or the bridges, ‘lookouts’ and features to find on your way round? Puzzlewood is enchanting; it has an atmosphere quite unlike any other woodland. Here you can imagine that you are in a fantasy film, and that fantastic creatures lurk round every corner. Puzzlewood is used for Merlin, Dr Who and recently for a new Warner Bros movie called Jack the Giant Killer (release date June 2012). Also onsite are farm animals, willow maze, indoor maze, playground, picnic tables, café and gift shop.

Absolutely beautiful views, the woods are stunning and the walk is modest, there is an app available to download to collect 10 roman coins around the walk. Few farm animals at the start with a cafe and toilets, plenty of car park spaces, there is an indoor maze (small) great for kids whilst raining, reasonably priced and an adventure you sure don’t want to miss. 10/10 from me.

Great place, and a fab set up all round. We had a beginner lesson the instructor was amazing and so good with my 8 year old son, he helped him on the waves and with his board and encouraged him when he was cold, even gave him his dry robe to get warm (think his name was Adam) Lovely cafe, great food the only negative was the cold shower!
