This is the highest wine farm above sea level in the Western Cape - as well as a holiday resort - ever so popular, but isolated. Not the kind of place you visit on short notice. We recommend you stay two nights. You have to do some planning and in the end will be blessed with nature as good as it gets. Wine tasting hours 6 days a week: 09h00 to 12h00 and 14h00 till 16h00. Close on Sundays, Xmas days and Easter Friday and special hours on Public Holidays. If you want to make this a day trip - rather phone and make sure about the road. Best is to stay the night in the fully equiped chalets. Take note: no restaurants and shops on the farm. Three hours drive from Cape Town Airport.

Probably the most unique drive to visit a winery. Beautiful rock formations and mountains, dusty passes (with much better roads than some years ago) and the plateau with the winery at the end. A perfect wine tasting with a very knowledgable and equally friendly wine steward. David‘s wines are still excellent with the Driehoek range as an added bonus. We took a picnic with us (there is no restaurant) and sat under a shady tree. The drive and the whole experience are more than worthwhile.

such a picturesque place - peace and tranquility that's what one finds there - besides the uncountable possibilities of capturing stunning images. Especially the light early in the morning and late afternoon. We stay near the caves in a self catering cottage so it takes just 15min to get to the entrance. It's useful to get as much information about the Stadsal beforehand to find all the special named rock formations.....
