Benvie Garden

We had such an amazing time in the gardens! This must be South Africans most beautiful Open Garden! It’s very well kept with the most magnificent trees and plants! Take your own picnic and water as there is no eating facility anywhere around, but so well worth it!! Bathroom facility is very clean! Best kept secret in the Midlands!

Karkloof Canopy Tour

A Canopy Tour® takes you on an unforgettable adventure as you slide from one platform to the next along a series of steel cables set amongst magnificent natural surroundings. It is widely regarded as one of the best eco-adventure activities in the world and is something for people of all ages with the youngest being 3 and the oldest 90 so far to do the tour. The concept of Canopy Tour originated in the rain forests of Costa Rica, where scientists were studying animals and birds in the Canopy Layer of the Forest. Safely sliding from tree to tree to a series of platforms became a novel way to see the flora and fauna of an indigenous forest. A whole new level of appreciation was born when the concept became one of South Africa’s most popular eco adventure activities. Karkloof canopy tour is only 1:30 from Durban, near Howick in the Midlands, this is a must do activity especially for nature lovers or adventure seekers looking to do something truly unique. Professional guides assure the safety of each group and point out interesting facts along the way. It’s ideal for team building, kid’s parties, family get-togethers, corporate events or just a fun day out. Open every day, with tours every half an hour from 8am to 3pm. Highgate Wine Estate

Highgate Wine Estate has recently built its new cellar and restaurant adjacent to the well known Piggly Wiggly in the KZN Midlands. Highgate wines are made from grapes grown on the farm. We have a large variety of attractions from shops, food and wine tasting. Our food includes a formal restaurant at the wine cellar to a coffee shop, pizza place and juice bar.

We had a fantastic visit to the Highgate Wine Estate. It is in an outstanding location with stunning views. We visited twice, In the first visit we enjoyed a wine tasting with Catherine who took time to explain the short history of the estate and it's plan for the future. The wines were excellent and our enjoyment of them was enhanced by Catherine's detailed and knowledgable description of them. We returned to have a short tour of the cellar by Thomas who explained the wine making process in great detail. We again had another informative wine tasting this time given by Thomas. This is a very 'hands on' operation far from the mass production vineyards that can be found in the Cape and as a result it exudes the quality and sophistication that is achieved by the personal touch. A very enjoyable experience indeed.
