We had an absolutely amazing time llama trekking at Catanger Llamas. Before we went Sarah answered all my questions over email and was a great and friendly host on the day too. We got to learn all about llamas before taking ours out on our walk, which I found really interesting. The walk was through beautiful countryside and was great to spend time with our llama who was really gentle and had a fantastic personality! Then we headed back to the farm to see all the other llamas and the babies too which was lovely. Also, Catanger Llamas has loads of precautions in place for Covid, e.g. loads of hand sanitizer, rotating llamas and guide ropes used etc so it felt really safe. Would definitely recommend a visit here, it was a fantastic experience!

West Lodge Rural Centre

We are an open, working family farm with indoor and outdoor adventure play areas, acres of beautiful walks, a large variety of farm animals including pigs, sheep, cows and goats. Activities on offer include free barrel rides, piglet racing, cuddle corner petting sessions with the smaller animals such as rabbits and guinea pigs. We also run pony rides and tractor tours of the farm at a small extra cost. Lots of picnic areas and a large family restaurant.

We've been coming here since my 9 year old was a baby and we love it. Staff are friendly, I can relax knowing my children are safe to run around, the facilities are great and restaurant recently really improved. The annual pass is great value for locals like us and there are regular themed weekends. Most extras within the farm are free, except pony rides and the large tractor rides so you don't feel like you're constantly being done for money. The walks are glorious, there's loads of wildlife and a new indoor playbarn which the kids love.

Rookery Open Farm

This farm is absolutely amazing the staff are fantastic and very approachable they were on hand at every area to give loads of information on the animals, we were lucky enough to see a sheep give birth to twin lambs which was adorable and two of the staff were there on hand to help the sheep. We were even more lucky to see a goat give birth in the petting area to twin kids that was the highlight for us. I can’t believe there have been some bad reviews for this farm!!! It’s so reasonably priced it’s ridiculous the kids loved all the play areas we spent 5 hours there all’s you need to do is take a picnic if you want food although they do sell snacky bits. The kids didn’t want to leave they had a wonderful day! Yes they got muddy and dirty but so what they are kids and this is a working farm!! There is no way that everywhere would be clean and tidy people are traipsing all over their farm and it’s not like the staff can follow everyone around with a broom!!! If you want a cheap day out with loads of fun things to do then I would recommend this place we loved it!! Thank you rookery farm staff you were amazing today ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Mini Meadows Farm

We have a lovely little children's farm boasting a large array of cute, not so cute, small and not so small farm animals, so come and see what we have to show you. Visitors both young an old get enormous pleasure from meeting our animals. For many it's a way of transforming pictures they see in books into a living experience. If you fancy a rest, pop in for a delicious ice cream, a cold drink or steaming cup of hot chocolate.

We visited a week ago as part of a birthday party and I was so impressed we came back the following week. For the birthday party they had hired a room which over looked the geese. It was a good size and had all the basics you need. Bag of packed lunch given and the mum supplied cake. We had a free return pass. It is £5 to enter and then £2 for a bucket of feed. The bucket has colour coded cups so you know what each animal should get. This is incredibly good fun. I should have got the husband his own bucket. The animals and facilities are under cover so even in rain this is a great place to visit. The goats and rhea are outside, as well as the ducks and geese. Lovely walk. In the summer more animals are outside. Inside we saw calves, piglets and lambs as well as rabbits and guinea pigs and lots more. There is a huge covered sandpit. This in itself could keep kids quiet for a bit. In addition to this there is a indoor play area set up as a tree house. It is a good size and suitable for all ages. My boys are 2 and 7 and would happily stay all day. There is a gift shop and cafe. The cafe is great. Prices as you would expect. £1.20 for a juice carton £3 ish for cappachino, £3 ish for cake. The cake range is fantastic. Such good quality. The sausage rolls £3 are the best ever. I would recommend. There is also a range of lunch options and different diets are catered for. Fab day out with younger ones.
