Our IAmsterdam card included this ferry from the Volendam Harbor to the former island fishing village of Marken. The ferry was quite large and in January largely empty. There is table service for coffee, tea, beer, apple pie, nachos and other snacks at an additional cost. The audio tour was informative, musical, and fun. Who know about Eeelsound?

Very nice and well maintained place that gives a complete and good overview of Volendam history. The hosts are very helpful. Just ask them if you have a question, because they may be a bit shy... The entrance price is not an issue.

The Alida Hoeve cheese farm and wooden shoe factory is located in Volendam. Where once cows grazed, now stands a shop with cheese for sale. Visitors are welcomed by staff wearing traditional Volendam dress and are all provided with an explanation on the preparation of cheese and the production of wooden shoes. Free entrance, demonstrations, tasting and parking.

After a terrible experience near the water we stopped in to purchase our souvenir wooden shoes. Not only were the prices better. The service was top notch! Helped find the right sizes and try them on. The cheese samples were a delight. Not overbearing with knick knacks and cheap souvenirs. Friendly staff. Adorable shop. Will return next year!!!

Our photo studio has been in existence since 1920 and we have photographed countless people in Volendam's costume. Such as groups, families, business colleagues, toerists, couples, children, adults etc. Our costumes are original and always freshly washed. The accessories and attributes we use are old and original volendams. Those details make a picture in costume the real thing. The friendly staff are able to speak Indonesian and very chatty people. Friendly staff. We have to wait in line for the staff to dress us properly and just follow them to complete the traditional custom. You have to choose yourself your size shoes (the Dutch traditional shoes). Quiet interesting to walk with the clogs, rather cute that is. You have to queue to be taken the pic and can be either individual or in group, then the photographer will give the tickets to pay and choose which size you want to have. After the photo session, return the clothes and wait patiently as the staff dressing other new guests too.
What an interesting experience. It is fun and the staff can make us relax and fun.

Очень приятное место. Оказывается Волендам - не просто уютный городок, а здесь родилось масса хитов (если я правильно поняла). Пройтись здесь весьма интересно, посмотреть на экспонаты, а потом перекусить в ресторанчике, который тут же и расположен. Среди экспонатов - диски, гитары, в общем это музей музыкальной истории Волендам. Если осталось свободное время, непременно сюда загляните!

This is not a sightseeing sight. It is a plaza with shopping stores including a Hema department store. It is between the bus stop and the Volendam harbor. See my review of Volendam Marken Express for steps on how to get to Volendam. You will pass this on the way to Volendam harbor. Shopping, nothing else.
