Vervet Monkey Foundation

Spent 6 months at the Vervet Monkey Foundation in Limpopo as an intern and I can't wait to come back... ???????? I loved working with the monkeys. Especially their foster-mum program for orphaned babies and integration of ex-pet monkeys into established monkey troops is so rewarding. I loved how much I learned here on a daily basis! The work does get very stressful and hard at times, but it's all worth it when you see those cheeky little monkeys bouncing around. Apart from the work itself, I loved life in the bush. There's something beyond beautiful about the simplicity of living in a wooden cabin surrounded by nature and wildlife. Everything is centered around nature and sustainability - from their composting toilets (can't waste precious water by flushing!) to the amazing vegan food. The team is amazing and very dedicated to their work. I'm grateful to have made friends for life at this place. ❤️ Definitely recommend volunteering here - or at least to go on a very educational short tour. ????
